On Thursday, Glovo, the Spanish on-demand delivery service, announced Nairobi as the location for its global real-time operations hub.
This decision marks a significant milestone in recognising Africa’s growing role in the tech sector and highlights Kenya’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Nairobi hub’s role
The Nairobi hub will serve as the nerve centre for Glovo’s operations across 23 countries. With over 160 agents working around the clock, it will focus on real-time monitoring and response, overseeing order fulfilment, rider logistics, and customer inquiries.
Caroline Mutuku, Glovo’s General Manager for Kenya, emphasised that this hub is crucial for enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Economic impact and growth
Glovo’s establishment of this hub is expected to create numerous job opportunities in Kenya. Kenya’s growing tech talent pool has made it a major player in Africa’s technology sector.
Chidera Akwuba, Head of Public and Government Relations for Sub-Saharan Africa, stated, “By supporting SMEs and leveraging Kenya’s innovative ecosystem, we aim to create long-term value and impact for the Kenyan economy.”
The hub will streamline rider onboarding and provide multilingual support to cater to diverse markets.
