Nairobi hosts Huawei’s digital skills competition

The 10th Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026 commenced in Nairobi, Kenya, to enhance digital skills globally.

Students, educators, and industry executives gather at the Serena Hotel to instruct children in information and communication technology (ICT).

Over 2,000 businesses from 100 countries compete in cloud computing, AI, networking, and other fields.

Kenya’s strong showing leads to success

Kenyan institutions and students are distinguished at the international level. The Huawei Campus Ambassadors at Kabarak University, Ivy Wambui and Allan, were pleased to encourage student involvement and certification in ICT.

The nation’s progress in cultivating ICT talent is illustrated by the qualification of six ICT Academy students from the University of Nairobi for the world finals.

In the 2024/2025 Huawei ICT Competition, Kenyan student teams emerged victorious on a global scale.

Team Kenya secured first place in the Computing course with the assistance of students from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and Machakos University.

Using real-world AI initiatives, Kenyan students took third place in Innovation. These achievements test the robustness of Kenya’s digital skills ecosystem.

Engaging youth in future-ready technologies

Huawei ICT Competition gives university and TVET students a unique opportunity to earn global ICT certifications and compete internationally.

Participants learn industry-relevant skills in the competition by working on IoT application development and AI projects.

Government authorities and education leaders, including Kenya’s Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, have praised the tournament for empowering young people.

According to the initiative, Kenya’s global competitiveness and technologically driven economic growth are contingent upon digital skills.

As 2025-2026 competition registration begins, Kenyan students are encouraged to create boldly and promote their country online.

The Huawei-local university partnership is creating a generation ready for a connected world.
