Netflix, one of the most popular streaming services, with a large selection of TV shows and movies over the years has been tirelessly working out something huge for its users. Only recently, the streaming service introduced a plan that will charge users who share their login details

In furtherance of its policy of customer satisfaction, Netflix has now introduced a Two  Thumbs Up button ( Double Thumbs Up ), which allows users to mark content that they have really enjoyed watching. This will enable the platform to serve up more of the same through their personalized recommendations in the future.

What You Need To Know About The New Netflix Two Thumbs Up button

When viewing a TV show or movie on Netflix, users will be able to select the Two Thumbs Up button, which will appear alongside the existing Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons on the show or movie’s page. This will inform Netflix whether you enjoy the content or not.
“Consider Double Thumbs Up as a way to fine-tune your recommendations to see even more series or films influenced by what you love.

A Thumbs Up still lets us know what you liked, so we use this response to make similar recommendations. But a Double Thumbs Up tells us what you loved and helps us get even more specific with your recommendations,” wrote Christine Doig-Cardet, director of product innovation and personalization experiences at Netflix, in a recent post.

Does The New Double Thumbs Up Have An Effect On Content?

Netflix pointed out that, despite the fact that the button has two thumbs, it does not have twice the weight of the One Thumbs Up button.

The signal will only assist Netflix in determining which shows are the most meaningful to the end-user so that when they arrive on their homepage, they are shown better, more personalized recommendations without having to scroll as much.

“There’s no fixed weight that we’re putting behind that thumbing,” said Doig-Cardet. “It’s just going to be another input that the recommendations take into account.”

More On The New Feature.

In 2017, Netflix introduced a thumbs up and down rating system for users. Netflix’s product VP Todd Yellin said the 5-star rating system was “very yesterday.” It’s difficult when you’re spending billions of dollars on titles you’re producing and licensing. “Bubbling up the stuff people actually want to watch,” He added that “bubbling up the stuff people actually want to watch is super important,”

For global Netflix subscribers, the new “Two Thumbs Up” option will be available next to the Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons on the app’s title page, pause screen, and at the end of episodes. Furthermore, the button will be available on TV, the web, and Android and iOS mobile devices.
