The Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT) recently expressed compassion for telecom providers’ difficult circumstances, which have resulted in extremely subpar communication services throughout the nation.

According to the satellite provider, its goal is to let the telcos use its services and solutions to enhance their service offerings.

This is also because it provides telcos with options to work with their Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to obtain services and equipment that can be paid for in local currency, avoiding the challenging forex process the telcos must go through to acquire the majority of facilities. The firm disclosed this to its channel partners in Ikoyi, Lagos, during a one-day K-A Vsat training event.

Closing Nigeria’s digital gap: NIGCOMSAT’s vision

Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, gave a brief explanation of the purpose of the training.

She was joined in this explanation by Olufunke Fagbeja, head of marketing and stakeholders’ engagement. She stated that the training was required to provide enough technical partners with the knowledge and skills to install VSAT equipment and extend connectivity to every corner of the nation.

According to Egerton-Idehen, NIGCOMSAT’s goal has always been to close the digital gap and guarantee that every area of Nigeria has access to dependable and effective communication services.

In response to enquiries about how the satellite business and the telcos work together to supply telecom services via satellite, Fagbeja stated, “t NigcoAmsat, we value strategic alliances.

We think that working together can provide end consumers with value and services. As much as we support strategic alliances, the other party also has a say. Thus, our collaboration with the telecoms will pay off, and we are now in talks with them to make sure they use our contacts, services, and goods.

For example, we have partnerships that enable us to purchase certain equipment and pay in local currency even if we are not Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). They can use the relationships we are building with telecoms to get equipment and make payments in local currency.

“Innovation is one of our organisation’s fundamental values. Our focus is on innovation because we firmly believe in it. We think that local content solutions can improve the services we can offer to our clients.

The satellite business arranged the training to expedite rural connectivity via Project 774 LGA Connectivity, an endeavour to provide internet access to all 774 Local Government Secretariats in Nigeria.

The project initiated by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy is anticipated to generate employment and drive out young people who commit crimes because they lack jobs.
