The Governor of Niger State in Nigeria, Hon Mohamed Umaru  Bago, has reiterated his dedication to improving healthcare in the state by providing state-of-the-art health technology facilities in the state.

During a recent visit to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Medical Services in Abuja, FCT, Governor Bago expressed his admiration for the unprecedented level of medical services provided there and emphasized his desire to achieve similar standards in Niger State.

Impressed by the NNPC’s hospital, Governor Bago stated, “We have come here in our quest to find better medical facilities and services for our people, and we have just witnessed the NNPC’s wonderful hospital.

They have taken us around a beautiful state-of-the-art facility, and we are impressed. Therefore, in our pursuit to establish Niger State as a hub for medical activities, we will take inspiration from here.”

The Governor further announced plans to replicate a similar facility either in Minna or Suleja town. He mentioned that a private hospital has already shown interest in investing in Minna, the state capital. The government of Niger State aims to ensure a productive collaboration with the officials of the NNPC clinic, particularly in terms of expertise.

Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango, the Managing Director of NNPC Medical Services, highlighted that their facility is unrivalled in Nigeria, equipped with the latest and most advanced technology that will soon be operational. He expressed gratitude for Governor Bago’s visit, considering it a testament to his dedication and commitment to serving the people of Niger State and Nigeria as a whole. Dr Zango urged other governors to follow suit and prioritize healthcare in their regions.

“We greatly appreciate the Governor’s visit, as it demonstrates his commitment and dedication to the healthcare needs of his people. We would love to have more governors like him who can visit and establish similar facilities in their states,” Dr Zango remarked.

Additionally, Dr Zango pointed out that the Niger State government’s interest in investing in medical services will significantly reduce the need for medical tourism. By making these advanced services available and affordable to the people, the state aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for its citizens.
