The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a new contactless passport application renewal process effective in Canada November 1 and subsequently to be rolled out to other nations.

The NIS on Wednesday disclosed that Nigerians intending to renew their passports can now do so from the comfort of their homes without having to visit their office.

The contactless passport application process, which only deals in passport renewal tentatively, will cut across various countries in three phases, with the first in Canada starting on Friday, while phase 2 will extend to the UK, USA and Italy by November 15.

Nigerian residents and other nations of the world will benefit from phase 3 from December 1.
