The National Identity Management Commission has successfully upgraded the Diaspora NIN enrollment platform to guarantee smoother enrollment management and more efficient service delivery for Nigerians in the diaspora.
According to a statement released by the regulator on Monday, the upgrade promises a smooth, safe, and reliable system that will improve the efficacy and efficiency of NIN service delivery to Nigerians living abroad.
Benefits of the upgraded NIN enrollment portal for Nigerians
NIMC Diaspora Front-End Partners have been onboarded onto the new system and have undergone extensive training as part of this process, which has given them the knowledge they need to manage and apply it effectively.
Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Mr Kayode Adegoke, stated, “This upgrade is a critical step towards providing our Diaspora community with reliable and efficient access to NIN services.”
“We are committed to ensuring that Nigerians abroad enjoy the same quality of service as those within the country.”
The updated platform requires all Diaspora FEPs to acquire and activate their NIN enrollment licenses within 48 hours. Through compliant FEPs, diaspora applicants can now access enrollment services.
In addition to apologising for any inconvenience the upgrade process may have caused, NIMC has set up a specialised service team to handle any problems with diaspora enrollment. For immediate assistance, Nigerians who are having difficulties are urged to contact the Commission at nimccustomercare@nimc.gov.ng.
Enrollment remains open in all Nigerian centres
Meanwhile, enrollment in NIN is still open in all Nigerian centres. Applicants can use the NIMC website to find the closest enrollment centre and proceed with enrollment.
In addition, Adegoke encouraged all NIN holders to download the NIMC NINAuth App, which is accessible on the Google Play and iOS stores, to easily verify and authenticate their NINs, manage who has access to their data, and get instant verification.
Nigerians residing at home and abroad can change their NIN information through the self-service modification portal, which can be accessed at https://selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.
Telcos migrated to NIMC’s upgraded NIN verification portal
Techpression reported last week that all Nigerian telecom companies have successfully migrated to the National Identity Management Commission’s upgraded National Identification Number verification platform, known as NINAuth.
The identity regulator stated that the development would improve service delivery, boost digital trust throughout the nation’s identity ecosystem, and protect data.
According to Lanre Yusuf, director of IT/IDD at NIMC, telecom operators are now completely integrated with the platform, allowing continuous identity verification services.
“This milestone reflects our commitment to securing digital identity and empowering Nigerians with greater control over their personal data,” Yusuf said.
