A new update for The Hundred Line: Last Defence Academy on the Nintendo Switch has just dropped.

Released on Saturday, this Version 1.1.1 patch introduces gameplay tweaks, battle balance adjustments, and bug fixes to enhance the overall experience.

The game, developed by TooKyo Games and published by Aniplex, has been a standout title on the Switch since its April launch, and this latest update keeps the momentum going with meaningful improvements.

Major gameplay improvements in version 1.1.1

The update enhances several areas of gameplay, starting with Chapter Select. Players can now resume the game right before key decision points, and the display range for the chapter selection screen has been expanded for better navigation.

Battle mechanics also get a serious upgrade. A new difficulty tier, “Extreme & Despair,” has been added, doubling down on the challenge. Special Attacks and Last Resorts now consume 2 AP in this mode, and allies take 100 damage per hit unless they’re armoured.

Players in “Safety” mode will now see health recovery occur at the end of their turn, making timing more strategic. Battles that have been cleared before can now be skipped, even if they aren’t similar to others, and the “Restart Wave” option lets you bypass start events for quicker replays.

Field exploration also sees minor but helpful tweaks. A new UI feature now shows where characters are positioned in hallways, and the brightness of the chime effects has been toned down for a more comfortable visual experience.

Gift system, exploration, dialogue features refined

The gift mechanic, called the Gift-O-Matic, now lets you confirm who the gift is for before finalising your selection.

You can also filter gift options directly from the “Wish List,” and view which relationships or grades will improve by giving specific gifts or spending time with characters.

Exploration mode benefits from smoother pacing. Some mandatory story-driven explorations can now be skipped, and random enemy encounters triggered by player decisions have been eliminated.

On the narrative side, players can now hide the dialogue window during conversations, and the cursor now stays in place when saving or loading, adding convenience across the board.

Battle balance updates and bug fixes

Several characters have received ability tweaks. Tsubasa Kawana’s “Decelerate” now covers a wider area, and Kurara Oozuki’s turret attacks hit harder with a broader support range.

Tsukumo siblings Ima and Kako saw changes to fatigue recovery and self-inflicted stat drops. Moko Mojiro also gets buffs with added armour effects and a stronger area of attack.

Battle stage difficulty and boss behaviours have been fine-tuned to keep gameplay balanced. As for bugs, crashes caused by specific chapter selections, disappearing visual effects in battle, and broken audio volume controls have all been patched. Other minor text and performance issues have also been fixed.

With this 1.1.1 update, The Hundred Line: Last Defence Academy continues to evolve into one of the most polished tactical RPGs on the Switch. Whether you’re diving into its intense combat or exploring its emotionally rich storylines, these updates make the journey smoother and more rewarding than ever.
