5G Network in Africa

Nokia and Blackned GmbH, of which Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall owns a 51 percent stake, have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop advanced deployable tactical networks for the defense industry.

The collaboration, which was announced on Wednesday, combines Blackned’s defense digitalisation experience with Nokia’s 5G technology to create high-performance, next-generation tactical communications solutions that offer dependable and secure connectivity for military operations in the field.

In accordance with the agreement, the companies will combine their product and solution portfolios to create a special, deployable communication system that is suited to Germany’s defense requirements and flexible enough to be used in other nations.

Through this partnership, Blackned’s software-based defense solutions and Nokia’s 5G tactical communications technology will be utilised to create an optimally integrated platform for the Rheinmetall Battlesuite.
