Nsano Ltd, a leading pan-African fintech company, has expanded its footprint into East Africa by launching a new regional office in Rwanda. This move follows the company’s approval by the National Bank of Rwanda, which granted Nsano both Payment Aggregation and Payment Remittances Service Licenses under Categories II and III.

Founded in Ghana in 2013, Nsano has evolved from a value-added services provider into a major player in Africa’s digital payments ecosystem. The company offers a suite of financial services, including payment processing, mobile financial services, remittance solutions, and payment aggregation. With the new Rwanda office, Nsano aims to strengthen its service delivery and accelerate financial inclusion in the East African region.

The establishment of the Rwanda office is part of Nsano’s broader strategy to deepen its presence across Africa. With existing regional offices in Ghana, Zambia, Côte d’Ivoire, and the United Kingdom, the company’s operational network now spans over 30 countries. This expansion into Rwanda signals a commitment to fostering seamless financial connectivity across the continent.

Regulatory approval and leadership vision

Nsano’s growth is underpinned by regulatory approvals from major financial authorities, including the Bank of Ghana, the Central Bank of Zambia, and now the National Bank of Rwanda. Expressing enthusiasm for the latest milestone, Priscilla Hazel, CEO of Nsano Group, highlighted the significance of the Rwanda office for the company’s long-term vision.

“We are thrilled to launch the East African wing of our business in Rwanda. We commend the National Bank of Rwanda for a seamless and transparent process in acquiring our license. Rwanda represents one of the fastest-growing technology hubs in Africa, and this aligns perfectly with our mission to be Africa’s premier digital payment processor,” Hazel stated.

She further emphasised the importance of geographic expansion in enhancing customer experience and fostering growth. “As a customer-focused organization, we believe that coverage across the continent is key to giving our customers cross-market synergies that will enable them to scale,” she added.

Strategic partnerships and future outlook

Nsano’s expansion to Rwanda follows a series of strategic moves aimed at strengthening its position as a leading digital payment enabler. In February 2025, the company announced a major partnership with Arab Financial Services (AFS), a key player in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This collaboration is expected to broaden Nsano’s service offerings and reinforce its influence in the African fintech sector.

With the new regional office in Rwanda, Nsano is well-positioned to drive digital transformation in East Africa while advancing its mission to become the leading digital payment processor across the African continent.
