Leading telecom company Orange Group has released strong financial results for the first half of 2025, and its operations in Africa and the Middle East remain a major source of growth for the company.

Orange Africa & Middle East region’s revenue increased by €469 million, representing a 12.8 percent rise in the first half of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.

Orange reports EBITDA of €5.7 billion

Orange reported an EBITDAaL of €5.7 billion for the first half of the year, a 3.8 percent increase from the previous year. At €1.67 billion, organic cash flow from telecom operations increased 7.7 percent.

Orange has updated its full-year 2025 guidance, anticipating EBITDAaL growth of more than 3 percent, as a result of this impressive performance.

With a strong 12.8 percent increase in EBITDAaL, the region achieved double-digit growth for the tenth consecutive half-year. The continued growth of 4G and 5G network usage, which currently accounts for more than half of Orange’s 167 million customers, as well as the robust growth of Orange Money and B2B services, were credited with this performance.

In her remarks, Orange Group CEO Christel Heydemann emphasised the role played by Africa and the Middle East.

She said, “I would also like to highlight our performance in Africa & Middle East, with a double-digit increase in EBITDAaL for the tenth consecutive half. This remarkable performance was driven by access to our 4G and 5G networks, now used by more than half of our 167 million customers, as well as by the development of Orange Money and B2B growth.”

Capital expenditures to support infrastructure and service delivery

Additionally, the business boosted capital expenditures in the region to support growing infrastructure and service delivery.

Beyond the financials, Orange’s dedication to digital inclusion and sustainability in the Middle East and Africa was clear throughout the reporting period.

With a 41 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2015 levels, the Group surpassed its 2025 goal.

Additionally, it strengthened its “Partners to Net Zero Carbon” initiative by approving a climate action plan with Camusat, a long-standing infrastructure provider in the area.

The Group continues to invest in infrastructure throughout its fastest-growing markets, particularly in Africa and the Middle East, with the goal of having at least €3.6 billion in organic cash flow from telecom operations by the end of the year.

Provision of free digital skills training to 2.9 million people since 2021

Since 2021, Orange has provided free digital skills training to 2.9 million people, many of whom are in emerging African markets, demonstrating the scale of its ongoing digital inclusion initiatives.

Orange Business has established a new defense and security division that offers quantum cybersecurity services, further solidifying its position as a reliable supplier of vital digital infrastructure from a strategic standpoint.

Orange’s performance in Africa and the Middle East highlights the region’s critical role in the Group’s global aspirations, with strong commercial momentum throughout its footprint, particularly in mobile and high-speed broadband, and a solid outlook for the remainder of the year.
