Orange, one of the top digital service providers and telecoms operators in the world, and Eutelsat Group have inked a deal that will allow Orange to strengthen its position in low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications by utilising Eutelsat’s OneWeb constellation. The deal was announced on Thursday.
With this latest investment, Orange intends to broaden its portfolio of satellite solutions by incorporating LEO connectivity solutions that provide enterprise and government clients with high throughput, low latency, resilient, and sovereign services, as well as support for mobile backhauling globally, regardless of their location.
Orange to integrate OneWeb’s satellite coverage with its terrestrial networks
As part of a strategy for digital inclusion, Orange will integrate OneWeb’s satellite coverage with its terrestrial networks to provide seamless continuity of service and improved security. This will enable businesses to access essential services even in the most challenging settings and in underserved or remote regions of the world.
Cyril Dujardin, President of the Connectivity Business Unit at Eutelsat, said, “Eutelsat is delighted to further reinforce its relationship with Orange and looks forward to supporting its ambitious project to provide premium, ubiquitous connectivity to its customers. LEO-enabled services are becoming an integral technology for global telco operators. We are delighted to have been selected by Orange to enhance its service to its enterprise customers.”
Jean Louis Le Roux, EVP Orange International Networks, said, “It is of strategic importance for Orange to invest in the unique LEO European solution that provides best in class, resilient, tailored and sovereign digital connectivity services to serve our customers wherever they are located. The partnership with Eutelsat for OneWeb services is of vital importance to support their digital transformation.”
Orange has a long-standing relationship with Eutelsat. Under a deal that dates back to 2020, Orange is the sole reseller of KONNECT VHTS capacity for consumer broadband in France. Earlier this year, Orange Middle East and Africa signed a deal for capacity on the EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite to provide satellite internet throughout its service area.
Eutelsat’s partnership with Emtel in Mauritius
Techpression reported recently that Emtel, a leading telecommunications company in Mauritius, announced on Wednesday the state-of-the-art Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite internet in Mauritius in collaboration with Eutelsat Group.
The companies’ shared dedication to innovation and digital transformation is further strengthened by this expanded partnership, which places Emtel and Eutelsat as the first to introduce high-speed, low-latency LEO connectivity in Mauritius.
Emtel is committed to innovation and digital transformation for a connected Mauritius as a partner hosting the Eutelsat OneWeb ground station network.
With the partnership, Emtel’s customers will enjoy high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity throughout Mauritius and its islands for improved business continuity and digital resilience. This initiative creates a more dependable and secure network by doing away with the need for a single subsea cable. To
