Payfi, a well-known BNPL financial technology business, has joined forces with SD Global Impact Services Ltd (SDG) to become the first Fintech in the nation to let Nigerians purchase Starlink routers with Naira cards.
Payfi was the first Fintech in the nation to provide this option, which made it possible. The advantages of the internet, according to a statement, are immeasurable. It continued by stating that having an internet connection enables institutions to collaborate internationally, share ideas, and hasten growth. The statement claims that many Nigerians who need access to fast internet find the $600 cost of a Starlink router to be prohibitive.

Payfi and SDG statement on the purchase of Starlink
The statement reads, “The benefit of this partnership between Payfi and SDG is that it offers Nigerians access to high-speed internet benefits with the chance to pay a little or outrightly with their naira cards. You can buy a Starlink router with either your Visa or Master card and pay either in monthly instalments or fully.”
It continues; “Payfi has a history of leading financial solutions in Nigeria. Their buy now, pay later offerings have given Nigerians access to an improved quality of life without breaking the bank. SDG on the other hand is a green solutions company with interests in waste management, mining and agric commodities and other forms of consulting. This partnership gives accessibility to Nigerians who want more flexible payment options for high-quality products. By becoming the first fintech in Nigeria to offer this service, Payfi is offering convenience to businesses, SMEs, hospitals, and schools in even the most remote and rural places where traditional telcos might not provide full services.”
“Seun Sanni, co-founder of the company and chief operating officer, had the following comment regarding this partnership: “We understand that a lot of Nigerians and Nigerian businesses want high-speed internet but the initial cost of $600 is a big financial barrier to accessing this device. With this unique offering, institutions in the country will have access to the internet with about 104Mbps speed which will lead to better communication and productivity.”
Earlier Update on the Use of Starlink in Nigeria
An earlier update from SpaceX Technologies, announcing the debut of their Starlink internet service in Nigeria, indicates that Nigeria is the first country in Africa to have access to Starlink internet services.
Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Pantami confirmed this, “As part of the partnership, SpaceX is to provide broadband access across the whole of Nigeria, enabling nationwide access to broadband connectivity way ahead of the December 2025 schedule, as outlined in our national broadband plan.”
“With this collaboration with SpaceX’s Starlink, Nigeria is set to be the first African country to introduce the service, ” Pantami added.
However, due to restrictions on the use of naira cards for purchases made in dollars, Nigerians have been unable to make use of this cutting-edge internet technology.
This novel act of Payfi and SDG might be what Nigerians need to benefit from the services of Starlink.
