Pesalink and Tendepay have joined forces to revolutionise how Kenyan businesses handle payments.

This partnership enables enterprises to make instant bulk and single payments up to KES 999,999 ($7,700) across all banks, streamlining financial operations for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

This transformation is a bold move to enhance efficiency and control over business payments in Kenya.

Digitising payments for Kenyan enterprises

Kenyan fintech Tendepay, originally for small cash management, now manages spend. With its cooperation with Kenya Bankers Association-operated Pesalink, businesses may manage payroll, supplier payments, utilities, and customer collections from one secure, Central Bank of Kenya-regulated platform. “With Pesalink’s trusted infrastructure, we are giving businesses a reliable, secure, and affordable tool to manage every payment, whether large or small, at any time,” said Tendepay CEO Abel Masai.

The platform also offers automatic reconciliation, which is vital for companies processing hundreds or thousands of transactions daily.

Empowering SMEs with seamless payment solutions

The collaboration aims to lower costs drastically, with some banks reducing transaction fees by nearly 50 per cent. Tendepay is already popular among contractors, schools, hospitals, logistics companies, and transport operators.

“We are introducing features such as instant bank transfers available 24/7, payment approval workflows, user limits to prevent misuse, and real-time visibility into cash flows and expenses,” Masai added.

Pesalink CEO Gituku Kirika highlighted the growing diversity of Kenya’s fintech ecosystem and the importance of interoperability for the sector, ensuring smooth transactions across banks, fintech companies, and telcos. Kirika also emphasised the need for continued investment in cybersecurity as digital payments increase.

This partnership is a milestone in Kenya’s digital finance evolution, pushing SMEs to adopt affordable, efficient, and data-driven enterprise payment solutions.

Pesalink | Tendepay

Pesalink is Kenya’s fast, secure, and affordable payment system that allows instant bank-to-bank transfers. Launched in 2017 by the Kenya Bankers Association and operated by Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL), Pesalink supports transactions through mobile banking, USSD, internet banking, ATMs, branches, and agent networks anywhere, anytime. Users can send money using the recipient’s mobile phone number, with transactions completed in under 45 seconds.

Tendepay is a Nairobi-based fintech that began as a petty cash management tool but has advanced to offer complete spend management to businesses.

It enables enterprises to pay staff, suppliers, and bills from one platform and integrates with Pesalink for instant payments. Tendepay’s features include real-time cash flow visibility, approval workflows, and user payment limits, helping companies control expenses and reduce costs.

The partnership with Pesalink enhances Tendepay’s offerings by providing reliable, affordable, and instant enterprise payment solutions across Kenya’s banking ecosystem.
