A new smartphone application called Xecure has been released in Kenya with the intention of preventing the worrisome increase in the number of instances of phone theft.

The creators of the security app claim that it is equipped with a wide variety of cutting-edge capabilities, which render it an effective instrument for preventing the theft of mobile devices.

”With the launch of Xecure, we aim to revolutionize mobile phone security in Kenya. Our goal is to empower individuals to protect their smartphones and the valuable data they contain, ultimately reducing phone theft incidents and providing peace of mind to users.” Charles Maxwell Opondo, CEO of Xecure, said.

”In a country where mobile phones have become indispensable to daily life, Xecure stands as a formidable ally against the rising tide of phone theft. With Xecure, users can reclaim control over their devices and protect their digital world more effectively.” he added.

Why Xecure is needed at this time

The National Police have just released their most recent annual report on crime, and it states that various sorts of theft, including the theft of mobile devices, account for at least 21% of all crimes that have been registered in the country. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations made an arrest related to a suspected mobile device theft kingpin one month ago.

The defendant was found to have hundreds of stolen mobile devices in his residence. Because the theft of mobile phones is considered to be such a severe problem in Kenya, the Communications Authority of Kenya has begun making preparations to prevent phones that have been reported stolen from connecting to any of the country’s mobile networks.

Xecure presents four unique security modes, each of which is designed to offer comprehensive protection in a specific set of usage circumstances. When the phone is placed in a pocket or bag and set to Pocket/Bag Mode, proximity sensors are activated to detect any illegal access to the device.

The Desk Mode is intended for use when the device is placed on a table or desk. In this mode, motion sensors are used to detect any movement that may occur. When a phone is connected to its charger, the Charging Mode will activate, and the Headphones Mode will activate when the user is using wired headphones with their device.

More on Xecure app

The Xecure app comes with a touch-sensitive alert system built right in. Even if the thief is successful in physically touching the phone, the application will respond with a loud alarm, so bringing attention to the attempted theft and increasing the likelihood that it will be prevented.

In addition to its four sophisticated security modes, Xecure also includes an alarm system for when the SIM card is changed. The app will immediately send a message to the user’s registered email address in the event that a thief attempts to change the SIM card in the user’s phone. This will enable the user to take prompt action in order to protect their personal information.

The Xecure app may now be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store for usage on Android-based devices, making it available to a diverse audience of people who use smartphones. The app is currently accessible with an introductory subscription deal of KES 99 per month or KES 999 per year. In the future, these prices will rise to KES 199 per month and KES 1,499 per year, respectively.
