Pi Network released detailed community guidelines on Thursday for its newly launched Pi App Studio, a no-code platform for building, customising, and launching Pi-powered applications.

The guidelines target application creators and end users and outline the principles, content standards, and ethical boundaries expected within the Pi ecosystem.

According to the platform, these standards aim to foster innovation, safety, and integrity across the creator ecosystem.

App purpose, token policy, and ethical conduct in focus

The new policy urges creators to ensure their apps serve their intended purpose and accurately reflect their descriptions.

“Your application’s name, logo, and description should accurately represent and describe the functionality of the application,” the blog post emphasised. Misleading labels or misuse of Pi-powered tools are prohibited.

Importantly, Pi Network drew a firm line on activities involving the Pi token itself.

The company banned all material discussions or misrepresentations about the value or valuation of Pi, and explicitly disallowed offering or facilitating gambling, betting, or lottery-related services involving Pi tokens.

The blog also addressed ethical misconduct, warning against fraud, phishing, and defamatory content. Spamming, impersonating, or targeting others with derogatory content could lead to serious repercussions.

“Any activity, comments, language or other products which would be considered to be unethical or ill intentioned” will not be tolerated, the platform stated.

Regarding privacy, creators are cautioned never to request or store users’ private keys or sensitive data such as passphrases.

“It is your obligation to comply with all applicable privacy laws, as well as Pi Network Terms of Service and policies,” the guidelines noted.

Pi Network further implemented enforcement measures in the Pi App Studio system to ensure compliance.

Going forward, violating apps may be paused or removed from deployment, and repeat offenders could face stricter penalties such as permanent removal from the Pi system.

“Repeated or severe violations can result in account restrictions or permanent removal from Pi App Studio and the Pi ecosystem,” the platform warned.

Furthermore, developers are encouraged to avoid illegal content and respect intellectual property rights. This includes not facilitating the sale of illegal goods, promoting violence, or infringing on copyrighted works.

The platform added, “The sharing of materials or information that you know, or have a reasonable belief, would infringe on the copyright and/or trademark of another individual or entity” is prohibited.

A call to action for all Pi Network pioneers

While the document outlines explicit rules, the company reminds users that the list is not exhaustive.

“These guidelines are intended to be informational in nature to assist Moderators and users of Pi Network and Pi App Studio,” the post explained, adding that activity, action or content that violates the above guidelines or the terms of service may be removed for reasons not specified above.

In closing, they called on all Pioneers to help uphold the standard. “We request that you assist Pi Network by adhering to, and encouraging other Pioneers to adhere to, these principles while participating in discussions and sharing content through Pi Network and Pi App Studio.”
