Possible EVS is the first company in Nigeria to launch fully electric taxis, with the goal of addressing issues that are prevalent in the transportation sector in Nigeria.

Every year, the transport industry in Nigeria is responsible for around 24% of the in-scope carbon emissions. Additionally, passenger vehicles are responsible for 72% of these emissions.

Commuters are beginning to feel the pain of higher transit charges as the price of petrol continues to hit historic highs. Already, the average Nigerian commuter will spend up to forty percent of their income on their mode of transportation. Electric cabs and buses, thankfully, have emerged as a superior and more environmentally friendly alternative.

Possible EVS, Nigeria’s pioneering innovation and sustainable mobility firm, has announced the inauguration of the country’s first-ever electric vehicle taxi service, which goes by the name EV Taxi. This development marks a significant step forward in the direction of sustainability and eco-friendly transportation.

The company started out with a fleet of 30 units, but they have plans to expand to at least 20,000 electric taxis across key cities in Nigeria by the year 2028, which will completely transform the country’s public transportation system.

E-taxis will offer Nigerians an environmentally friendly alternative mode of transport, lend support to the country’s ambition to reach net zero emissions by the year 2060, and make a contribution to the fight against climate change on a worldwide scale.

Remark from the CEO of Possible EVS

“The launch of our e-taxis is a significant step towards realizing the full potential of electric mobility in Nigeria,” says Mosope Olaosebikan, founder and CEO of Possible EVS. Possible EVS vehicles come standard with cutting-edge features, such as roomy cabins, cutting-edge safety systems, and technology that is simple to operate”

She continued, “We’re also building a robust fast-charging infrastructure to ensure convenient access to charging stations and reduce concerns about range anxiety. With our e-taxis, Nigerians can expect a seamless and comfortable travel experience.”

Electric vehicles, as opposed to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles (vehicles that run on gasoline), offer lower running costs due to the fact that electricity is generally more affordable than petrol and diesel fuel. This is in addition to a number of other benefits, such as fewer carbon emissions, improved air quality, and less reliance on imported fuels.

According to Mosope, “almost immediately,” EV Taxi will provide new employment prospects for qualified taxi drivers as well as support workers.

“We are also looking to collaborate with interested stakeholders to promote local manufacturing and the assembly of Nigerian-made electric and hybrid cars, providing a great boost to Nigeria’s automotive industry.”

Mosope is a successful businessman who has launched a number of companies in a variety of sectors, including the hospitality, media, and technology industries. The introduction of EV Taxi is a demonstration of the young entrepreneur’s unyielding dedication to the promotion of innovation and environmentally responsible development.

According to the chief executive officer, “As a patriotic and forward-thinking organization, we’re excited to be at the forefront of this transformative journey, and we are confident that our pioneering efforts will inspire other players in the transport industry to embrace sustainable practices and contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Nigeria.”

However, in order to achieve such a lofty objective, one would need a significant amount of assistance and collaboration, as Mosope himself has admitted that in order for the implementation to be successful, there must be collaboration with strategic partners in both the public and private sectors.

Possible EVS is interested in forming collaborations with companies that produce goods, companies that offer energy, companies that construct charging infrastructure, and government organisations that are committed to addressing climate change and developing renewable energy. Together, they hope to steer Nigeria towards a future that is both more sustainable and more progressive.
