Premier Bank Kenya Limited, one of Kenya’s top Islamic banks, has unveiled Premier Connect and Premier Tap, two revolutionary digital innovations poised to revolutionise Kenya’s banking and payments environment.

As the nation’s first fully Shari’ah-compliant digital bank, Premier Connect is an omni-channel digital banking platform that enables its clients to access modern, easy-to-use banking that adheres to Islamic financial principles.

Kenya’s first wearable payment system, Premier Tap, was created in collaboration with Mastercard and allows contactless transactions using smart devices that support NFC, including watches, rings, key fobs, and phone cases.

Premier Connect’s offerings

Premier Connect offers several customer-focused features tailored to Kenya’s growing mobile-first customer base.

These include advanced card control, treasury services, foreign exchange solutions, real-time payments through multiple channels like Pesalink, SWIFT, RTGS, and BillPay, and 100 per cent remote account opening for retail customers.

The platform guarantees that users have safe, flexible, and 24/7 banking access that meets the needs of today’s digital lifestyle through a fully synchronised, multi-device experience.

Premier Tap’s offerings

Premier Tap, on the other hand, combines convenience, security, and style to present a completely new method of doing business in Kenya.

This innovation, which eliminates the need for cash or physical cards, is powered by MasterCard’s tokenisation and encryption technologies, guaranteeing that every transaction is secure.

It directly addresses the demands of tech-savvy urban consumers who want speed, efficiency, and security in their day-to-day financial dealings.

The launch of Premier Tap further demonstrates Premier Bank and MasterCard’s shared goal of expediting financial inclusion while presenting cutting-edge solutions that appeal to younger consumers.

Premier Bank’s brand promise of “New Beginnings”

Premier Bank’s brand promise of “New Beginnings” is embodied by this twin launch, which gives consumers greater accessibility, choice, and flexibility in how they handle and spend their money.

It solidifies the bank’s position as a pioneer in Kenya’s financial industry and emphasises its dedication to moral, forward-thinking banking.

Premier Bank has significantly influenced the nation’s digital banking and payment landscape with Premier Connect and Premier Tap.

Premier Bank’s partnership with Mastercard

In December 2024, Techpression reported that Premier Bank announced a partnership with Mastercard to launch a cutting-edge line of debit, credit and prepaid cards that adhere to Shari’ah.

This partnership represents a critical turning point in providing safe financial solutions suited to the various demands of the Kenyan populace and the broader market.
