Qatar Airways almost completes Starlink upgrade for Boeing 777s

Qatar Airways has almost completed the upgrade of its Boeing 777 fleet-wide Starlink, a major in-flight connectivity milestone. The announcement was made on Wednesday, highlighting the airline’s rapid progress in integrating Starlink technology across its fleet.

Starlink reaches 80% of Qatar’s 777s

Starlink has been installed on over 80 percent of Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777 fleet, providing gate-to-gate high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity for over 6,000 flights. This accomplishment establishes the airline as a pioneer in in-flight innovation, providing passengers with ultra-fast internet access for streaming, entertainment, and work at 35,000 feet.

According to Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, “We are just a few aircraft away from completing a full fleet-wide upgrade of our Boeing 777s with Starlink connectivity—an industry first for a widebody fleet of this scale.”

Qatar Airways has preserved its extensive flight schedule and improved the onboard experience by implementing this rapid expansion, which guarantees uninterrupted high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity without disrupting operations.

World’s first: Qatar Airways brings Starlink to Airbus A350 fleet

Qatar Airways is scheduled to start installing Starlink Wi-Fi in its Airbus A350 aircraft this month, following the success of its Boeing 777 fleet. The in-flight Wi-Fi experience will be further enhanced by Qatar Airways’ decision to become the first airline globally to provide Starlink connectivity on the Airbus A350.

As Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer noted, “In April, we will become the first airline in the world to begin equipping the Airbus A350 with Starlink, taking another bold step in our journey of redefining connectivity in the skies.”

This expansion demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing reliable, high-quality connectivity across its key routes. It guarantees that passengers experience increased comfort and convenience during their flights.

The A350, one of the most cutting-edge passenger airplanes, will now provide reliable high-speed internet across flights, allowing passengers to stream material, participate in video conferences, and work.
