Concerning the Programming

Mentoring in business planning, engineering, intellectual property protection, and the application of sophisticated connectivity, sensing, AI/ML, and other processing technologies for the creation of creative end-to-end systems solutions will be provided to the Qualcomm Make In Africa businesses free of charge and without the expectation of equity in return.

In addition to providing masterclasses on product management, pitch clinics, intellectual property rights, and hardware architecture, Qualcomm Make in Africa will provide one-on-one mentorship for the shortlisted firms with Qualcomm experts on a regular cadence. This is intended to drive startups towards product realisation. The programme was announced in December 2022.

The programme will reach its conclusion with a finale demo day in December 2023, during which participants will have the opportunity to network with various industry leaders, venture capitalists, investors, and other accelerators.

Remarks From the Executives of Qualcomm

“As part of our new Africa Innovation Platform, the Qualcomm Make in Africa mentorship program is one of many initiatives we are working on in close collaboration with government and industry stakeholders in Africa to help position African entrepreneurs and researchers to service markets throughout the continent and realize their global ambitions.

“We believe that startups based in Africa are best placed to identify uniquely African problems that can be solved through end-to-end systems solutions and new business models,” said Elizabeth Migwalla, Vice President and Head of Government Affairs (Middle East and Africa), Qualcomm International.

“We congratulate the shortlisted companies and look forward to a fruitful collaboration for innovation in the coming months.”

About Qualcomm

In 1985, seven former coworkers from Linkabit got together at the residence of Irwin Jacobs to plan the formation of a firm that would develop “QUALity COMMunications.” These forward-thinking individuals deviated from the prevalent standards for telecommunications at the time in order to devise Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), which would go on to alter wireless communications fundamentally.

Qualcomm is a corporation that was founded by innovators who come from a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds and are dedicated to enhancing communication all across the world. At this time, Qualcomm has 170 offices located in over 30 different nations.

Qualcomm is paving the way for a future in which intelligent connections may be made between people, places, and things. Every day, you engage with products and technologies that its has made possible, such as 5G-enabled smartphones that also function as high-quality cameras and gaming devices, smarter vehicles and cities, and the technology that is behind the smart, connected factories that built your most recent purchase.

Even in isolated regions, you can rely on their robust connection solutions to keep you connected. Qualcomm’s Innovations in 5G and AI are the driving force behind the connected, intelligent edge. You’ll discover their technology behind and within the breakthroughs that bring considerable value across various industries and to billions of people daily.

Every day, it is working to revolutionise how its customers work, live, and communicate by testing the boundaries of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence to provide solutions that enable these customers to maintain more intelligent connections. This digital transformation is bringing about advancements in almost every aspect of society and business, including the automobile industry, agriculture, education, healthcare, and manufacturing, to name a few.

Products that it offers include processors, modems, platforms, radio frequency (RF) systems, and connectivity. Qualcomm also offers products based on the end-use application of your design. It provides customers with a comprehensive selection of purpose-built, pre-packaged software, hardware, and tools that speed up the process of bringing their inventions to market.

In addition, Qualcomm is working on creating crucial wireless technologies that the world currently relies on. To assist in figuring out what comes next with 5G, the team is now recruiting creative individuals.
