Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, and Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon announced a multi-year partnership to develop metaverse experiences based on Snapdragon extended reality (XR) platforms and technologies for the Meta Quest platform during the 2022 IFA keynote.

The agreement clarifies that both companies are still committed to making better devices and experiences supported by unique VR platforms for many years. The companies have worked on cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) innovations for more than seven years, most recently with Meta Quest 2.

It is expected that the partnership will make it easier for the two companies to deliver several chipsets—powered by Snapdragon XR platforms and technology—for our future roadmap of Quest products,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta. “As we continue to build more advanced capabilities and experiences for virtual and augmented reality, it has become more important to build specialized technologies to power our future VR headsets and other devices.”

Building virtual reality is not like making a mobile phone. It has new, multidimensional challenges in terms of spatial computing, cost, and form factor. These chipsets will help us keep pushing virtual reality to its limits and deliver awesome experiences.

Meta Company Accuses Facebook of Alleged Trademark Infringement

Earlier this year, Meta chose Qualcomm’s technology over their processor, Brasilia, for the debut of the second generation of Ray-Ban Storie’s smart glasses earlier this year. Eventually, it appears that Meta lacks the internal semiconductor expertise it currently requires. Given that Zuckerberg Technology is based dedicated to the success of the still-uncertain.

About Qualcomm

Qualcomm is the world’s leader in developing new wireless technologies and the main force behind the creation, launch, and growth of 5G. The company’s essential technologies have enabled the mobile ecosystem, which can be found in every 3G, 4G, and 5G smartphone today. It also creates a future where everyone and everything can easily connect and talk to each other by bringing the benefits of mobile to new areas like computers, the internet of things, and cars.

Furthermore, the company develops Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated that operates, along with its subsidiaries, substantially all the engineering, research and development functions, products and services businesses, including the QCT semiconductor business.
