A revolutionary programme dubbed “The Feather Internet Program” has been introduced by Raven Bank.
Its primary objective is to make high-speed internet available on campus to Nigerian students attending both state and federal educational institutions free of charge.
The unveiling, which took place on Friday, August 4 at Ignatius Ajuru University (IAUE) in Port Harcourt, symbolizes a fundamental change in connection that is poised to transform the education sector in the country.
According to Raven Bank, “The Feather Internet Program” may be linked back to the bank’s core concern regarding how significant contributions to the community might be made. This inquiry led to the creation of “The Feather Internet Programme.”
The question “germinated a seed of inspiration that gave rise to a revolutionary idea: a free internet service that would connect students to a limitless world of information, unleash the potential of the next generation, and bridge the educational digital divide,” the digital bank added.

Raven Bank’s CEO speaks
The Chief Executive Officer of Raven Bank, Uchenna Nnodim, delivered the opening remarks and highlighted the critical function that internet access plays in the achievement of educational goals.
“The internet plays a key role in succeeding as a student. There is a world of information that can be found on the internet, which keeps you abreast of all the knowledge you need.” Nnodim asserted.
Nnodim, in his statement, reaffirmed the enormous impact that Feather Internet has.
“The programme is specifically targeted to have a high-level impact in the lives of Nigerian students. It is aimed to give 400,000 Nigerian students access to free internet on a daily basis; this is the maiden launch and just in one location; we intend to extend it to other Universities.”
“The essence is to ensure that students have access to the internet for their academic pursuits, for research, and to enable them to have access to any knowledge they have an interest in.”
During his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of IAUE, Professor Okey Okechukwu, praised the effort and emphasised the significance of providing students with unrestricted access to the internet for the purpose of expanding their educational opportunities.
The importance of the internet was stressed by Professor Okechukwu: “The internet opens up the global gateway, allowing students to source materials and information online, thereby enhancing their learning experience.”
In addition, he pointed out that the use of the internet by students not only enriches their academic experience but also equips them with a wide variety of life skills, thereby giving them more agency throughout their entire academic journey.
A session on financial literacy was also presented as part of the inauguration ceremony, and it was led by famous financial professionals. The course provided students with insightful knowledge regarding personal finance topics such as saving money, making investments, and starting their own businesses.
