Remitly and Airtel Tanzania have partnered to make money transfers across the nation more convenient.

Customers may now take advantage of Airtel’s extensive network in both urban and rural locations by sending money directly to their Airtel wallets. The partnership aims to improve ease and accessibility in Tanzania’s expanding remittance sector.

“We’re working to make sending money across borders easier and faster for you. That’s why we’re excited to share our new collaboration with Airtel Tanzania, one of the key mobile money providers in the country. This collaboration is an important step in making sending money to loved ones in Tanzania easier,” stated Remitly.

On Wednesday, the U.S.-based remittance provider announced the agreement, claiming it will facilitate and expedite cross-border money transfers, providing assistance to those assisting loved ones in Tanzania.

“With this collaboration, you can now send money directly to Airtel Tanzania wallets, with the recipient able to access the funds quickly. Whether it’s for family support, education, or emergency needs, your money gets there safely and reliably—just like you’d expect from Remitly,” the statement added.

Airtel’s wide presence in Tanzania would boost money transfer service

According to Remitly, Airtel Tanzania, a mobile operator with more than 19.4 million customers, is essential to this endeavour.

According to the statement, more individuals would be able to take advantage of the company’s services because of its wide presence in Tanzania’s rural and urban areas.

The 2011-founded money transfer startup, which operates in 170 countries, said the Airtel cooperation demonstrates its dedication to building connections that improve people’s lives.

“By providing more options for money transfers, Remitly continues to strengthen its position as a trusted money transfer service. The collaboration with Airtel Tanzania is a testament to Remitly’s ongoing efforts to bring more convenience to its users and their families,” reads the statement.
