Samsung phone owners who got their phones in the last year or so should get a big software update soon. Samsung said on February 21 that some of its older phones will get Galaxy AI features in “late March” as part of the One UI 6.1 update.

Earlier this month, Samsung released the Galaxy S24 line, which included Galaxy AI. Although the AI features have only been available on the S24 phones since they came out in January, the future One UI 6.1 update will let many more people try them out.

Samsung has revealed that One UI 6.1 in March will include the Galaxy AI toolset for the following devices:

There’s a lot to see when you get Galaxy AI on any of these next month. One of the best tools is Circle to Search. By marking or writing on something on your phone, you can do a Google Search for it.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI features are made possible by combining AI in the cloud and processing on the device itself. Chat Assist, Live Translate, Interpreter, Instant Slow-Mo, Note Assist, Generative Edit, and more are on the list. For example, Instant Slow-Mo can add more frames to slow-motion videos, and Chat Assist can change the tone of texts and translate them into 13 languages.

You can change the size, remove, or move objects in an image using the Generative Edit tool. You can even zoom out of the original picture, and the tool will make pixels to fill in the gaps. In the same way, the Samsung Notes app’s Note Assist feature lets you arrange text and summarise context to make a shorter version of your note.

The announcement comes not long after Samsung” ‘s President & Head of MX Business, Dr. TM Roh, confirmed that the company is planning to bring Galaxy AI features to its smartwatches as well. A Samsung spokesperson, Roh, said the company wants to offer AI experiences to “over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024.”

Samsung also said that older Galaxy phones that run One UI 6.1 can use Google’s Circle to Search tool. You can look for things by making a circle on the screen, which is already possible on the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8. Galaxy phones that work with One UI 6.1 will soon also be able to use Bluetooth Auracast, which lets you send music to multiple nearby devices.
