–Say goodbye to N3,000 for 15GB–Glo slashes data rates as MTN hikes prices

–Glo scraps N3,000 for 15GB data plan, offers triple data with 200% bonus

Nigerian telecom giant Globacom (Glo) has announced a major shake-up in its data pricing, scrapping the N3,000 price for its 15GB plan and introducing new, budget-friendly tariffs. Alongside this, Glo is rolling out a 200 percent data bonus, delighting subscribers and reinforcing its position as Nigeria’s go-to network for affordable internet.

Glo’s new pricings offer more value to customers

Approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Glo’s revised data plans replace the old N3,000-for-15GB monthly bundle with a more affordable option. This overhaul spans daily, weekly, and monthly plans, ensuring all users benefit. While exact details are still emerging, the move reflects Glo’s ongoing mission to make data accessible to millions of Nigerians amid rising living costs.

Glo has long been a leader in offering high data volumes at low prices, often outshining competitors like MTN and Airtel. This latest update cements that reputation, relieving subscribers who rely on the internet for work, education, and staying connected.

Triple the data with a 200% bonus

The standout feature of Glo’s announcement is the 200 percent data bonus tied to its new MiFi devices. Priced at N14,999 and available at Gloworld outlets, these MiFi devices come with a new Glo SIM. Upon activation, users get 30GB of data valid for 30 days—triple the base amount. For the next four months, every data recharge earns a 100 percent bonus, making it a steal for heavy users.

This offer isn’t just for new customers. Existing Glo subscribers can also grab a MiFi and enjoy the same perks. With the ability to connect multiple devices and a reliable battery, the MiFi is perfect for households or small businesses needing shared internet access.

As of April 8, 2025, Nigeria faces economic pressures like inflation, making affordable data more crucial than ever. Glo’s price cuts and bonuses arrive as competitors like MTN raise tariffs—charging N7,500 for 20GB or N6,500 for 15GB. By going against the grain, Glo positions itself as a customer-friendly alternative, likely drawing in new users and retaining loyal ones.

To contextualise for readers, mention Glo’s new rate for 20GB and 15GB. That’s how readers can compare both MTN and Glo’s offerings.

For many Nigerians, data is a lifeline. Students stream classes, professionals work remotely, and families stay in touch online. Glo’s new plans ensure these essentials remain within reach, even on tight budgets.

How to jump In

Getting started is simple. Visit a Gloworld outlet, pick up a MiFi for N14,999, and activate it with a new SIM to unlock the 30GB starter pack. Subsequent recharges over four months double your data. Existing users can upgrade to a MiFi to join the bonus party. For full plan details, dial *312# or check Glo’s website, as offers may evolve.

A win for Glo subscribers

Glo’s latest move is a game-changer. Dropping the N3,000-for-15GB plan and tripling data with the 200 percent bonus shows the company’s focus on value. Whether you’re a student, a remote worker, or a family sharing a connection, Glo’s new structure keeps you online longer for less.

Glo’s new rate for a 20GB data plan is ₦5,000, valid for 30 days. A 15GB data plan is available for ₦2,640, also with a 7-day validity. There’s also a 15GB SME data plan for ₦2,587.20 with 7-day validity.

In a competitive telecom market, Glo’s customer-first strategy stands out. As Nigeria’s digital needs grow, this could set a new benchmark. For now, Glo users have plenty to cheer about: lower costs, more data, and a bonus that triples the fun. If you’re on Glo—or thinking of switching—2025 is shaping up to be a great year to stay connected.
