In a statement released on Sunday in honour of International Women’s Day, Schneider Electric reaffirmed its dedication to advancing gender equality and fostering employee development.

The company stated that it was dedicated to achieving a 50% female recruitment rate and a 30% female presence in leadership roles.

According to the firm, the 2025 International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerate Action,” emphasises the necessity of taking immediate action to remove structural gender inequalities and advance gender equality.

Closing the gender pay gap 

In order to close the gender pay gap, the corporation stated that it has been completely implementing its Pay Equity Framework in all countries since 2019, encompassing 99 percent of its staff.

In addition to promoting gender equality, Schneider Electric offers a work environment that fosters professional development and advancement.

The business also said that, on November 22, 2024, the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association awarded it the Employer of the Year award in the Energy and Utilities Sector in honour of its efforts to foster employee growth and workplace excellence.

Female Schneider Electric’s top employees shared their experiences 

Funmilayo Olakitan, Country Manager for West Africa, talked about her experience working for Schneider Electric. She said, “I joined Schneider Electric in 2022 as a graduate marketing intern.”

She continued, “Within six months, I was promoted to Marketing Communications Specialist and later transitioned to my current role in corporate citizenship as the Youth Education and Entrepreneurship Programme and Foundation Delegate for Anglophone West Africa. Schneider Electric has been instrumental to my growth, providing leadership support, training, and courses to enhance my skills and leadership abilities.”

“The culture, people, and environment have enabled me to continuously develop and progress in my career. As a woman, I have received immense support from my colleagues and leaders, making my transition seamless,” she added.

Yewande Ayowole-Oso, Talent Leader for Anglophone West Africa, reminisced on her nine-year career at Schneider Electric, where she has held a number of positions, including HR Director, HR Cluster Manager, HR Generalist, HR Service Manager, and now Talent Leader for Anglophone Africa.

She underlined how her progress has been greatly aided by Schneider Electric’s procedures and commitment to staff development.
