In a remarkable display of talent and dedication, six exceptional students from Nigeria are set to represent their country at the prestigious 2024 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) in Disneyland, Anaheim, California, USA.
These young tech prodigies from various secondary schools across Lagos and Ogun states have proven their mettle in a rigorous competition that tested their skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nigeria’s Representatives at Microsoft Championship
The six students selected to fly Nigeria’s flag at the international event are Olamiposi Ayoola Ajisafe, Gabari Rume, Daniel Uzugbo, [Name 4], [Name 5], and [Name 6]. Ajisafe, an Excel 2019 winner from Faith Academy, Gowon Estate, Lagos, achieved a perfect score of 1,000/1,000, showcasing her exceptional software mastery. Rume, a Word 2019 winner from Grace High School, Gbagada, Lagos State, matched this feat with a flawless 1,000/1,000 performance, while Uzugbo, a PowerPoint 2019 winner from Faith Academy, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, also scored a perfect 1,000/1,000.
Mrs Edna Agusto, the Chief Executive Officer of ReadManna Empowerment Initiative, the non-governmental organisation driving this initiative, expressed immense pride in the students’ achievements. “Nigeria has come second and third in the World Championship in the past 15 years and had finished in the top 10 places nearly every year,” she revealed, underscoring the country’s consistent performance on the global stage.
The Significance of MOSWC
The MOSWC is an annual event that brings together students worldwide to compete in various Microsoft Office applications. It aims to promote digital literacy and encourage students to develop their skills in these essential tools. Mrs Agusto emphasised the significance of the MOS certification, stating, “It is globally recognised and allows certified users to apply for jobs anywhere in the world. MOS certification also provides a solid foundation for advanced ICT training, and certified users can pursue training in advanced computer technologies.”
ReadManna Empowerment Initiative, the driving force behind Nigeria’s participation, is dedicated to fostering current practical and relevant digital literacy skills aligned with global standards among students, youths, and teachers in Nigeria through competitions and conferences.
