The 3rd annual Solar Power Africa conference, scheduled for February 7-9, 2024, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, will spotlight best practice examples of solar and storage collaborations delivering tangible results in South Africa and across the continent. The event seeks to empower attendees with knowledge and capabilities to harness solar’s potential, leveraging storage advancements to bridge Africa’s energy access gap.

The conference’s key ambition is to equip attendees with insights into maximizing solar’s potential and utilizing storage technology to address Africa’s energy challenges. With approximately 640 million Africans lacking access to energy, the imperative for clean, sustainable, and secure energy solutions has never been greater. Michael Dehn from Messe Frankfurt emphasizes the enduring strength of solar plus storage, noting its role in reducing intermittency, lowering energy costs, curbing CO2 emissions, and ensuring energy security.

Dynamic Program and Expert Insights: Charting the Path to Sustainable Development

Under the theme “Empowering Africa’s Energy Future: Solar and Storage Solutions for Sustainable Development,” Solar Power Africa 2024 will offer a dynamic program featuring plenaries, keynote speeches, and breakaway sessions. The carefully curated content aims to empower attendees to harness Africa’s solar potential. The conference will explore the future of solar and storage, outline a path to sustainable development, and identify opportunities for investment and collaborations that fulfill Africa’s solar promise.

The three-day conference and exhibition will feature four plenary sessions, four keynote addresses, and 14 specialized breakaway sessions. More than 80 expert speakers from the energy industry will share insights, offering diverse perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in solar and storage. Organized by Messe Frankfurt in partnership with RE+ Events, the event is endorsed by key industry players, including the South Africa Energy Storage Association (SAESA), Circular Energy, the African Solar Industry Association (AFSIA), and Green Cape. Solar Power Africa is poised to attract over 80 exhibitors, focusing exclusively on the dynamic market of solar power and energy storage.
