Instagram has implemented an inventive feature that allows creators to combine multiple segments into a cohesive series.

This most recent revision simplifies the process of following ongoing stories or thematic content, allowing audiences to navigate through episodes effortlessly.

Meta has confirmed that the feature is now accessible worldwide and is intended to enhance engagement by enabling more intricate narrative formats.

How creators can link reels in a series

Reels can be linked by creators using two simple techniques. Users can choose reels that have already been published by selecting the “Link a reel” icon in the caption section when uploading a new reel. With a maximum of 15 characters, they can also offer a succinct title for the series.

Users can add or edit connected reels for reels that have already been posted by tapping the reel’s menu icon.

This feature creates a “Next Reel” button on the screen so that viewers may keep watching the story without looking for it or relying on captions like “part 2 coming soon.”

This feature maintains the series’ public discoverability for all followers, excluding subscriber-only or close friends reels.

Instagram aspires to convert casual viewers into devoted followers by simplifying the process of discovering content and facilitating binge-watching.

What creators gain from linking reels

The reel linking tool is perfect for multipart stories like tutorials, episodic vlogs, recipe collections, or trip diaries.

Instead of separating material into separate clips, connectors between reels let creators tell fuller stories.

Instagram’s motivations are clear: “The linking feature was highly requested and is designed to help creators build more structured series that increase watch time and engagement,” according to official updates.

This allows creators to direct audiences on a clearer viewing journey, encouraging them to engage more deeply and remain longer. Despite the increasing popularity of reels as a format, Instagram’s innovation continues to support creators searching for novel methods to engage their followers.

Instagram fortifies its audience retention strategies and creative tools for 2025 by improving the presentation and accessibility of segments.

The ability to connect segments in a series creates new opportunities for engaging storytelling in short-format video.
