A new outsourcing enterprise, Taltrix, has been launched in Nigeria, with the aim of creating 100,000 jobs for young Africans in the next seven years.

Taltrix is a joint initiative of Tech4Dev, a non-profit social enterprise, and Vienna Payment Solutions (VIPASO), a global provider of mobile payment technology.

This was revealed in a recent statement by Taltrix Chief Executive Officer, Joel Ogunsola.

The platform connects graduates with various digital and creative skills to local and international clients who need their services, offers a wide range of outsourcing services, such as data entry, graphic design, web development, content creation, customer service, and more.

According to the Executive Director, Tech4Dev, Oladiwura Oladepo, the initiative is designed to address the problem of unemployment and underemployment in Africa, especially among the youth.

The National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria’s unemployment rate rose marginally to 4.2 per cent in Q2 2023 from 4.1 per cent in Q1 2023. However, this figure does not capture the extent of underemployment, which is estimated to be much higher.

Taltrix aims to provide a lifeline for young Africans who have the skills and talent, but lack the opportunities and resources to access the global market. Taltrix also aims to empower young Africans with digital, entrepreneurship, and life skills training, to enhance their employability and productivity.

A collaboration of partners and stakeholders

Taltrix is the result of a collaboration of partners and stakeholders who share a common vision of fostering digitalization and financial inclusion in Africa. It is supported by Impact Hub Lagos and Univelcity, two organizations that provide co-working spaces, mentorship, and training for entrepreneurs and innovators. Taltrix is also hosted by Microsoft Nigeria, a leading technology company that provides the platform, infrastructure, and network for Taltrix to operate securely and efficiently.

Taltrix has already set up infrastructure across 14 cities in Nigeria, with a total capacity to employ 1,000 people. Taltrix plans to expand to other countries in the region soon, with the goal of employing 100,000 people by 2030.

Taltrix has also received positive feedback and interest from various sectors, such as banks, hospitality, on-the-go services, financial institutions, and retailers, who see the value and potential of Taltrix to improve their customer experience and business performance.

How to prevent tech startup failure in Nigeria in 2024

Taltrix, a game-changer for the economy and the society

Taltrix is a game-changer for the African economy and society, as it offers a new and innovative way to pay and get paid for services, using any phone, without the need for cards, mobile money wallets, or internet connection. Taltrix uses VIPASO technology, which enables users to generate and scan QR codes using their smartphones or feature phones, and communicate with each other via Bluetooth low-energy connectivity.

Taltrix is also a game-changer for the African society, as it promotes social impact and inclusion. Taltrix targets underserved, unrepresented, and underrepresented demographics of young people, especially women and people with disabilities, who face more barriers and discrimination in the labour market. Taltrix also focuses on building communities everywhere, by providing essential infrastructure, such as power and internet, and engaging young people in their own localities. Taltrix aims to decentralize urban migration, and reduce poverty and inequality.

Taltrix is a revolutionary solution that offers a simple, reliable, safe, and universal way to pay and get paid for anything, anywhere, anytime, using any phone, said Matthias Horvath, CEO at VIPASO.

“Taltrix is not just about filing job roles, we are investing in human capital development to reduce unemployment and underemployment, which will in turn drive economic growth, and shape a brighter future for Africa,” said Oladepo.
