Telecom Egypt, Egypt’s telecom operator and one of the biggest subsea cable operators in the region, announced on Monday the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) at the Aqaba Digital Hub (ADH) in Jordan.
This new PoP will act as a crucial hub for connections, allowing smooth data exchange and promoting the effective movement of regional traffic as the world’s needs for high-bandwidth solutions grow.
Telecom Egypt’s commitment to promoting digital transformation
In addition to adding ADH, the biggest carrier-neutral Tier III data centre in Jordan and among the biggest in the region, to Telecom Egypt’s global network, this calculated move reaffirms the company’s dedication to developing significant alliances that promote digital transformation.
Telecom Egypt’s partnership with ADH enables it to improve connectivity throughout the Middle East, giving companies and hyperscalers the dependable, high-capacity infrastructure they require to prosper in the current digital economy.
Launch of Coral Bridge subsea cable
This announcement comes after the successful launch of the Coral Bridge subsea cable, a 15-kilometre express petabit link between Egypt and Jordan, created in collaboration with ADH’s telecom division NaiTel.
This cutting-edge cable links ADH’s open-access facility in Aqaba with Telecom Egypt’s Taba landing point in Sinai, Egypt, establishing a strong foundation for future expansion and cooperation.
The Coral Bridge system offers a strong basis for future connectivity, perfectly harmonising with the new PoP. Together, these advancements put Telecom Egypt and ADH in a key position to tackle the region’s connectivity issues, facilitating everything from international data transit to cloud services and AI-driven apps.
To meet the constantly changing demands of global digital traffic, Telecom Egypt is dedicated to investing in its international infrastructure, which includes several subsea cable systems and landing points.
The company continues to produce significant outcomes by collaborating with top industry players, motivated by the conviction that teamwork is essential to a future with infinite connectivity.
Telecom Egypt and Aqaba Digital Hub express commitment to the partnership
Mohamed Nasr, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Telecom Egypt, commented: “This dual initiative, our PoP at Aqaba Digital Hub and the activation of Coral Bridge, represents a transformative step in strengthening the digital backbone of the Middle East. In an era where ultra-high bandwidth demands are soaring, we are proud to expand our global footprint and create diverse routes that ensure resilience and seamless connectivity.”
He added, “Coral Bridge and the new node not only bridge Egypt and Jordan but also unlock new pathways for traffic aggregation, empowering collaboration and connectivity across continents. Telecom Egypt remains dedicated to driving innovation and reliability in the telecom ecosystem.”
Eyad Abu Khorma, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aqaba Digital Hub, commented: “Telecom Egypt’s new PoP at Aqaba Digital Hub together with the Coral Bridge subsea cable, jointly developed between Telecom Egypt and ADH’s Telecom Arm, NaiTel, mark transformative steps for the region.”
He emphasised, “By combining Egypt’s global subsea reach with Aqaba’s neutral landing station and Tier III data centre, we are building resilient routes and opening digital gateways that strengthen connectivity across Jordan, the Middle East, and beyond.”
