TikTok Add to Music’ discovery function is now available in 41 sub-Saharan African nations such as Kenya and Nigeria,

This expansion invests heavily in the region’s creative community. Artists can post their original sounds to Add to Music and share them globally. It creates new music discovery opportunities and promotes African music worldwide.

The move supports TikTok’s empowerment of African creators. The 2021 #AfricaOnTikTok campaign was a hit, with 130 billion views. The campaign highlighted Africa’s thriving artistic scene. Add to Music gives African artists new options to express themselves and reach more people. It allows African musicians to be discovered, expanding the global music industry with new sounds and viewpoints.

The Add to Music App feature lets music fans save TikTok songs to their preferred music streaming services (subject to availability).

Add to Music App helps music enthusiasts capture TikTok tracks they love at the time of discovery and save them to their favourite music streaming service for later.

How to connect ‘TikTok Add to Music’

The function invites users to save a TikTok video’s tune to their preferred music streaming service by clicking Add Tune next to the track name at the bottom of the For You Feed. Users can store songs to their choice music streaming service the first time they select Add Song. Users can choose among phone-installed music apps.

The track is saved to a preset playlist in the desired music streaming service, but users can also add it to a new or existing playlist. The music app selected after the first Add to Music App will become the default music streaming service for subsequent track saves; however, users can modify it under settings. Artist Sound Detail Pages allow users to Add to the Music App.

“With Add to Music App, we are streamlining the music discovery experience for both TikTok users and artists,” said Isaac Bess, Global Head of Distribution Partnerships TikTok. “Music fans are embracing the opportunity to save music from TikTok directly to their favourite music streaming services, driving music discovery and helping more tracks to break through and become hits. We are excited to be bringing the feature to millions more music fans around the world, providing even more opportunities for music discovery and consumption and for artists to reach new audiences and grow their careers.”

TikTok’s Add to Music expansion to sub-Saharan Africa benefits creators and music fans. Creators may share their music globally, while fans can find the next African music sensation. This action could change the worldwide music industry by highlighting African music and making it more inclusive.
