TikTok will implement New Community Guidelines on September 13, 2025. These rules will make minor but essential changes to commercial postings, AI-generated material, and LIVE producers.

TikTok’s updated rules mandate that producers assume greater accountability for live broadcasts, including content produced by outside resources like voice-to-text or translation applications.

New rules for LIVE streamers and AI content

TikTok recommends that creators closely supervise the utilisation of these tools to prevent inadvertent violations.

TikTok Shop requires the explicit disclosure of commercial content promotions and limits the visibility of posts that link users to off-platform purchases in its regions.

This demonstrates TikTok’s intention to enhance the commercial controls of its ecosystem.

Personalised app search results and comments will also be added. Search results and suggestions on TikTok will be based on users’ viewing history, and comments will be sorted by engagement and reports.

A more personalised user experience will result in varied comment ordering and content suggestions.

The revised standards significantly reduce the complexity of AI content restrictions for deepfake and deceptive content.

TikTok has implemented guidelines that prohibit “misleading about significant public matters or harmful to individuals,” as well as the elimination of celebrity AI endorsements and the reduction of descriptions. These changes suggest that policy changes may be necessary.

Content moderation on TikTok changed from “trustworthy and vibrant” to “safe, fun, creative place for everyone.”

The slight tone change may reflect a constant balance between safety and creativity. Due to global legislative pressure, TikTok now follows the UK’s Online Safety Act and the U.S.’s TAKE IT Act.

The new standards demonstrate TikTok’s commitment to improving user experience and content control while navigating worldwide regulatory environments.

As the new restrictions take effect next month, TikTok advises creators to familiarise themselves with them so they can thrive on the platform safely. With the changes, creators, users, and the platform can cohabit in a more responsible and engaging digital realm.
