The Togolese Republic has announced today that Togo VOYAGE, its electronic visa issuance system (e-Visa), has been completed and relaunched.

The fully digitalized website is a significant accomplishment in the government’s Digital 2025 Strategy. The locally developed system promises to speed and simplify the entire visa application procedure for tourists.

The portal will also enable arriving and departing travelers to perform all required health procedures for safe travel, including paying for unvaccinated travelers’ mandated PCR testing upon arrival and departure in Togo.

More On Togo VOYAGE

A “Visa Wizard” on the user-friendly new platform, which is accessible in both French and English, allows incoming travelers to swiftly assess whether they require a visa to visit to Togo. In order to avoid having to fill out all of their information for each trip they plan, it enables travelers to update their information by setting up a personal account and saving their personal information, such as names, contact information, passport numbers, etc.

The platform and its supporting system are just at the air borders for now. The administration does, however, intend to extend it across both land and water boundaries in 2022. The Togo Digital Agency (Agence Togo Digital, ATD), which has been named the nation’s “catalyst for digital transformation in public administration,” is in charge of carrying out the project.

Although several nations offer e-visa services, Togo will be the first nation to fully combine its online visa and immigration application processes with its Covid-19-related rules under a single platform, greatly simplifying the application process for future visitors.

What They Are Saying About Togo Voyage

H.E. Madam Cina Lawson, Minister of Digital Economy and Transformation for Togo, commented on the new Voyage Togo platform, saying, “Once again, Togo has proven to be an innovator in the field of digitization on the continent and beyond. We are modernizing all facets of our economy as we strive to become a global hub for innovation and competence in the digital space, and the launch of Voyage Togo is yet another audacious move in that direction.

According to H.E. Gen. Damehame Yark, Minister of Security and Civil Protection, this new platform will improve border security by enabling the creation of a distinctive database for people entering and leaving the country. “I like the Voyage Togo platform since it is changing how we do things at work. We now have access to a distinctive, virtual database of travelers entering and leaving the country, which speeds up processing and enhances the effectiveness of our national security agencies.

The achievement made H.E. Prof. Robert Dussey, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Regional Integration, happy. “The Togo Voyage platform is simplifying the procedures and formalities associated with travel to and from our nation. This is excellent news for visitors to Togo from abroad.

Togo Digitalization Efforts

In an effort to make doing business easier for domestic and foreign companies and to provide effective government services for its residents, the Togolese government has committed to digitizing all governmental services by 2025.

With the recent announcement of a number of initiatives bringing digitalization to the forefront of Togolese business and administration, the West African country has established itself as an innovator in the field of digitization on the continent.

With efforts such as teaming up with Google in March to connect the nation to the new Equiano underwater internet cable and other collaborations like recent engagement with the UN Economic Commission for Africa and sponsoring of a significant international conference on cybersecurity in Africa (UNECA).
