TWF’s Teen Tech Expo helps tech education

Kossy Okonkwo, the Founder of Teens World Foundation (TWF), emphasised the critical importance of skill development, particularly in technology, for today’s youth to prepare them for the future of work. She says this is the essence of the tech expo.

“In Teens World Foundation, we are coming from the angle of education through skills acquisition because you can give somebody money, you can give somebody food, you can give somebody clothes, but empowering somebody with skills is something that will never leave them.

“So, if you train somebody to know how to do something, that particular thing will remain with the person. And that is the essence of education. That skill, that training informs them, changes them, equips them, and makes them a better person.”

“And that’s what we’re doing with Teens World Foundation; we want to be able to empower and equip teenagers with the skills they need to thrive. Over the last two years, I have visited Lagos State schools.”

She announced that TWF’s Teen Tech Expo will be hosted annually. “We want to keep empowering teenagers to learn skills, especially tech skills.

“So, in the next five years, we should have 100 to 150 teenagers who have been empowered and undergone rigorous training and come out differently. After the training, they are also going to get internship opportunities.”

Partnering with PluralCode, a leading tech organisation, Teen World Foundation is committed to bridging the gap in tech education for teenagers. By providing a platform for hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies, the expo seeks to equip young individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital age.

The Teen Tech Expo 2024 will feature workshops, interactive sessions, and tech showcases designed to ignite creativity and foster youth innovation. Participants can engage with industry experts, explore emerging technologies, and collaborate on projects that address real-world challenges.

Techpression, as one of the media partners would be at the Teen Tech Expo to provide updates on the life changing activities that teenagers would be engaged in.
