The proposed “Edit” button has been made available to Twitter’s U.S. audience through its Twitter Blue membership, just days after it announced it would be available for its paying users in the selected locations.

Twitter users have long requested the feature to enable them to make changes to their tweets for up to 30 minutes after they have been posted. In order to reduce misuse of the tool, Twitter also stated that users can only change their tweets five times in a 30-minute window. The edit button was previously available only to Blue subscribers in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand

However, the citizens of the United States might not instantly see the button. The corporation promised a “gradual rollout” of the Edit Tweet feature.

When contacted for comment, Twitter told TechCrunch that by the end of October 3rd, 2022, all U.S. Twitter Blue subscribers would have access to the Edit Tweet test. The business stated that this will be supported across all platforms where Twitter Blue is accessible.

A key selling point for Twitter Blue is a $4.99 monthly service (was $2.99 last year) that gives power users access to a number of premium features and personalization options, including the ability to change the Twitter app’s icon and in-app navigation, as well as early access to some (but not all!) experimental features, is the Edit button.

Although Edit Tweet is now Blue’s most popular feature, user demand may no longer be as high as it once was.

This is so that users may rapidly correct an error after posting using the “Undo Tweet” function that Twitter Blue introduced when it debuted last year. As users can now postpone their tweets for up to a minute, allowing them time to reread and notice potential problems, this reduced one of the main use cases for an Edit button.

While there is an edit log, there are worries that bad actors may still utilise a more robust editing capability to modify the meaning of their tweets after they have been posted, disseminate false information, and generally cause trouble.

The business had started to tease the Edit button’s release in September when it indicated the requested functionality will be available in about a month. Prior to that, Twitter tested the function on its own accounts to show users how Edits worked.

What is the editing feature on Twitter?

After a post has been posted on the site, users can edit it using the Edit Tweet tool. The edit button allows you to quickly correct mistakes, add missing tags, and make other changes to your article.

According to Twitter, tweets can be modified a few times within the first 30 minutes of publication. According to the company’s website, the modified tweet will display with a symbol, timestamp, and label to let users know that the original tweet has been changed.

When a user modifies a tweet, that is the key distinction between an edit tweet and an undo tweet. Users can see and edit tweets before sharing them, according to Twitter, by undoing them. After a tweet has been published, users can edit it.

On its website, Twitter notes that anyone can click on an edited tweet to read any previously published tweets and that everyone can see the altered label on an updated tweet. According to Twitter, users can report abuse in modified tweets just like they would with ordinary tweets.

Twitter Circle Goes Live

Twitter recently unveiled Twitter Circle, a new feature that enables users to tweet to more specialized audiences. According to the business, users have discretion as to who can access and interact with their posts. Twitter claims that This enables users to have “more intimate” conversations and forge tighter relationships with a restricted group of followers.

The “Edit” button function, which Twitter started testing in May, is now accessible to all users on iOS, Android, and Twitter.com.
