Twitter Releases New Edit, Close Circle Features

New Twitter Circle Tool for Selected People

Twitter has rolled out a new privacy-focused feature called Circle, which enables people to share Tweets with a smaller group on the microblogging platform.

The new feature allows A user’s Twitter Circle to have a maximum of 150 members, who do not necessarily need not be followers of that user to be included as part of their Circle.

Twitter users can choose who can view and engage with their content on a Tweet-by-Tweet basis for more private conversations and foster closer connections with a smaller crowd.

Speaking on this new feature, Twitter General Manager, consumer and revenue product, Jay Sullivan, said: “We want to help people break the ice, feel more comfortable Tweeting, and have a way to communicate more privately with people they choose. We built Twitter Circle with this in mind, and after testing and feedback, we're releasing Twitter Circle to everyone. We will continue to build a healthier, more enjoyable Twitter so that everyone can join the public conversation on their own terms.”

Before posting a Tweet, people will see the option to share it within their circle only or a full followers list. The list can be adjusted at any time as the user pleases.

Starting today, it will be available to everyone on iOS, Android, and the Twitter website worldwide.

Meanwhile, twitter has also announced the app will experiment with an edit button from today.

Edited Tweets will be marked with a tag to indicate when they were last altered.

"If you see an edited Tweet it is because we're testing the edit button,"the official Twitter account announced this morning.

This new feature will enable users to fix typos, add missed tags, and more. Twitter Users will have the opportunity to edit content "a few times" within 30 minutes of sharing tweets with their followers.

The microblogging app highlighted that a small group had been selected to test the feature in its early stages, and Twitter will assess how it is used or misused.

After the pilot round, Twitter Blue subscribers will be the first to access this feature.

Twitter said the expansion of the edit feature to Twitter Blue subscribers would happen later in September.

Twitter Blue users "localized to a single country" will be part of the testing phase.

Users who see edited tweets can view the history of changes on such posts.
