At the company’s headquarters in Abuja, the UNICCON Group of enterprises has introduced two new mobile applications: Omeife AI and Omeife Digital Literacy.

In December 2022, UNICCON Group introduced Africa to its first humanoid robot by the name ‘Omeife’. These apps, which benefit Nigerians, Africans, and people all over the world, are descended from the Omeife.

How UNICCON’s invention was received

Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, the Director General of NITDA, unveiled the applications at the Group’s headquarters in Abuja in recognition of the considerable success that has been realized since the debut of the humanoid.

The Director General discussed the process of removing services in order to provide digital literacy. According to him, technology is essential in order to realize the goal of achieving 95% digital literacy in Nigeria.

“Omeife can be in the hands of Nigerians to learn in a personalized manner and have an interactive experience. I have gone around the facility and I am impressed with the technologies in place. I am happy with the convergence of technology in this place from biological, physical, and chemical perspectives.”

At the end of his statement, he made a commitment on behalf of the Agency to provide the Group with financial support for the research that it undertakes.

Dr. Chuks Ekwueme, Chairman of the Group, expressed gratitude to the National Technology Information Development Agency (NITDA), academic institutions, industrial partners, decision-makers, and members of the community for their contributions to the growth of digital literacy. He complimented the DG of the NITDA, particularly for being a partner in the advancement process.

He noted that the apps that were introduced will answer challenges that are specific to Africa and will offer value to society. He underlined the fact that it is impossible to construct a digital economy without the digital education of the masses, particularly those who are at the grassroots level, such as local traders and the underserved.

Kehinde Ake, the General Manager of UNICCON Group, delivered a welcoming address in which he urged all essential stakeholders in the technology field to back the effort of promoting digital literacy in Africa. According to him, there would be no such thing as a digital economy if the people who benefit from it were technologically illiterate.

The apps that have been released come with translation services that go from the source language to the target language. These languages include English, Pidgin English, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, French, and Swahili. In addition to that, they provide services such as video translation, knowledge aid, text summaries, and more.

The Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), GIZ, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Nigerian Computing Society (NCS), and Convexity are among the dignitaries that will be attending this event. In their messages of goodwill, in addition to extending chances for collaboration, they praised the UNICCON for advancing the movement toward a society that is digitally literate in order to facilitate a thriving digital economy.

The mission of UNICCON Group is to close the technological barriers in Nigeria.
