Nowadays, devices are undoubtedly an integral part of our daily lives. Hence, if a person’s device is damaged, it significantly affects the individual’s day-to-day activities. Water and electronic devices are like salt and earthworms; water and oil.

Therefore, most people go to extreme lengths to protect their electronic gadgets, such as phones and laptops, among others. People go to extreme lengths not only because they have vital information on these devices, but the cost of repair is usually high, as well as the physical, mental and emotional stress involved.

Here are ways to protect your gadgets during the rainy season, as a downpour can meet anyone anywhere at any time.

Use waterproof bags or cases for your devices:

This goes a long way, as when stuck in a downpour, one can rest assured that the devices are safe. A waterproof case that can help is the zip lock, so it is advisable to always have one handy during the rainy season. Waterproof pouches are also handy for extra protection.

Do not plug electronic devices:

Unplug all electronic devices, especially those connected to power outlets, during thunderstorms to prevent damage from power surges.
Also, shun charging wet devices. Dry them thoroughly if they get wet before attempting to use them to avoid damage or, worse, electrocution.

Always have an umbrella or raincoat with you:

Having an umbrella or a raincoat on hand will help you stay dry to some extent and protect your gadgets from getting wet. Meanwhile, ensure they are in good condition and have no holes.

Clear Drainages and Gutters:

To make the environment cleaner and safer and curb floods, ensure clean, proper drainage around your home to prevent water from accumulating and potentially seeping into your house and damaging electronics.

Control Indoor Humidity:

High humidity can also be a problem. To keep indoor moisture levels in check, use dehumidifiers or improve ventilation.

Inspect Regularly:

Check your electronics regularly for any signs of moisture damage, such as swollen batteries or corrosion.
