Cristiano Ronaldo, one of football’s most celebrated icons, began partnering with Binance in June 2022 to launch exclusive non-fungible token (NFT) collections, including one called “Forever To The Moon.”

These digital collectables are limited, blockchain-certified items to celebrate Ronaldo’s legacy and milestones.

On Sunday, a post on X suggested that a “Cristiano Ronaldo memecoin” named $CR7 would launch soon, claiming it could reach a multi-billion-dollar market value.

Some may have taken this as official news, but Ronaldo or Binance have not confirmed any such coin. The football star’s official collaboration with the exchange focuses strictly on NFTs, not tradable cryptocurrencies.

They are not cryptocurrencies or memecoins, so you need to understand the difference.

What is Ronaldo’s non-fungible token?

For beginners, NFTs are unique digital assets that cannot be duplicated. Owning one of Ronaldo’s NFTs is like having an exclusive collectable card, but in digital form, secured by blockchain technology.

The “Forever To The Moon” series is part of Binance’s curated drops, offering fans rare and original designs linked to Ronaldo’s football journey.

These pieces are meant for collecting and showcasing, not trading like Bitcoin, Ethereum or other alternative coins.

As crypto and football fans, you need to be cautious here. Some online posts may blur the lines between NFTs and memecoins, but they differ.

What is memecoin

A memecoin is a cryptocurrency created for trading and speculation, often without a clear purpose beyond hype. On the other hand, the star NFTs are about fan engagement, exclusivity, and digital memorabilia.

If you see claims about a “Ronaldo coin” promising high returns, verifying with official sources before believing or investing is best.

The NFT collaboration is significant because it allows you to connect with Ronaldo in a new way. Some of these digital collectables are designed to capture moments from his career that fans cherish.

Unlike traditional merchandise, these NFTs cannot be copied, giving you a sense of owning something unique.

For some supporters, it is about pride and passion; for others, it may become part of a growing collection of digital assets.

Binance’s upcoming collaboration

As more drops are released under this partnership, Bianance might release new themes and designs to celebrate Ronaldo’s career milestones.

Each release will remain limited, allowing you and other fans to secure rare digital items. But again, it is crucial to remember this is not about a coin, quick profits, or speculation on a token called $CR7.

Once again, there has been no official mention of a memecoin, and the recent online claims should be treated with caution.

For fans and collectors, you need to focus on the opportunity to own digital memorabilia tied to one of the greatest footballers in history.
