WhatsApp releases new features on iPhones to improve user experiences, following updates made to the Android version earlier.

A post on X from April 24th, which reads, “passkeys are rolling out now on iOS…a more secure (and easier!) way to log back in with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode,” was made by the company.

In 2024, WhatsApp will continue to improve the iPhone user experience by releasing multiple new features. Regarding instant messaging, WhatsApp is revolutionising the game with its enhanced security features and more interactive communication methods. Discover how these updates can improve and streamline your messaging experience by diving into them.

Learn about the newest WhatsApp features for iPhone in 2024, such as multimedia calling with audio sharing, improved security with passkey support, and the ability to use the app on multiple devices with Companion Mode.

The new updates from WhatsApp

Below are the new features for iPhone users:

Strengthened security with Passkey integration

The WhatsApp iPhone app is getting support for passkeys to make it more secure. By integrating biometrics or facial recognition through iOS passkeys, this feature makes traditional passwords obsolete. This secure authentication method, previously only available on Android, is now available to iPhone users, providing a more convenient and secure login experience.

Access from multiple devices: Companion Mode

In 2024, the most notable update is the Companion Mode, which lets iPhone users use one WhatsApp account on multiple devices simultaneously. With this mode, you can synchronise your devices effortlessly, even when your primary phone isn’t online. An enormous improvement over the prior restriction to web-only access, this feature now allows use on up to four devices.

Now, while screen-sharing on an iPhone, WhatsApp users can also share audio from their devices, making video calling even better. With this function, you can make any audio file, including video, audible to everyone on the call. For more engaging sessions, whether at work or play, it’s a significant improvement.

Upgraded text layout controls

New text formatting capabilities have also been added to WhatsApp to assist users in better organising and presenting their messages. Options such as inline code, block quotes, numbered lists, and bulleted lists are all part of this. These features are specifically made to make group chats more effective and transparent.

The latest update to WhatsApp for iPhone adds more UI customisation options, including the ability to alter theme colours and chat bubble styles. With this much leeway for personalisation, users can make the messaging experience more pleasant and aesthetically pleasing by changing the app’s appearance to their liking.

There has been a significant improvement in the functionality and security of WhatsApp with the most recent update for iPhone users. In addition to solidifying its position as the market leader in instant messaging, these updates allow WhatsApp to meet the changing demands of its varied user base. These updates will significantly improve our digital connections with others, whether it’s through multi-device access, enhanced security features, or interactive communication tools.
