WhatsApp is creating a tool to share high-quality photographs and videos. WABetaInfo, which tracks WhatsApp development, revealed this functionality in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.12. This updated edition lets you “select original-quality photos or videos”.

WhatsApp will classify high-quality media files as documents in this upcoming feature. WABetaInfo screenshots show the app’s document picker’s “choose from the gallery” option. This feature expressly states that photographs and videos should be sent in their original quality, removing the need to change file extensions to PDF or DOC to maintain quality.

Users had to employ unique means to deliver media files in high quality before. This new functionality solves this problem, speeding up the procedure. WhatsApp has added “HD” photos and 720p movies, but it still compresses them. However, this upgrade will allow Android and iOS users to share their media in full quality, a significant improvement.

WhatsApp introduces screen-sharing feature, competes with Microsoft, Zoom, Google

Recent WhatsApp updates

The most popular messaging app recently added a function that lets users share their screens. This tool is meant to improve the app’s video calls, but it also means that WhatsApp will now compete with Google Meet, Microsoft Team, FaceTime Time from Apple, and Zoom.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, said that this tool will let people share files like documents and photos. They can also use video calls to share what’s in their shopping cart with people they know. Users must click the Share icon to use the feature. At this point, they can share the whole screen or just a particular app.

WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging app, also added a feature called “Chat Lock” that lets users hide chats they don’t want others to see.

WhatsApp says that users can now choose to use the chat lock feature on both Android and iPhone. With this feature, they can use a password to protect their private chats. Users must use a device-proof method like a phone passcode, Face ID, or fingerprint to get into the locked chat. Also, locked chats will be stored in a different folder on the app.

The messaging app says that voice messages changed how people talk to each other because they were a quick and safe way to share their voices. It is now building on the features of instant video chats to do this.

The platform also announced new account security features, which give users of the popular chat app even more privacy and security.

There may be more alerts if someone tries to move their WhatsApp account to a different device. There are also silent back-end checks that help stop malware on a device from affecting WhatsApp, and your security code verification can be done automatically.
