Women Connect has taught more than 100 young girls in Lagos with the help of Devnaija Academy Limited. The goal was to encourage them to explore and do their best in a technology-driven world.

Girls between the ages of 7 and 16 attended the training sessions, which took place both in person and online. They were part of efforts to honor the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child.

Oyinlola told parents they could help their girls’ education more if they knew what was happening worldwide. In addition, she asked all levels of government to protect the rights of girl children in society.

Ogunbiyi Elizabeth, CEO of Devnaija Academy Limited, also talked about the program’s goal. She emphasised that it wants to give young girls power and inspiration by teaching them about coding and robots. “We believe that every girl deserves the chance to explore and do well in this technologically driven world,” she said.

Regarding boosting the academic growth of girl children, she said that the government could ensure that all girls have the same access, chances, and an excellent place to learn.

This includes expanding and keeping schools, making sure girls have access to transportation, and getting rid of things that make it hard for girls to go to school and participate. Furthermore, she suggested providing scholarships, grants, and other financial aid to encourage enrollment and continued education, especially for girls from disadvantaged homes.

As for how the digital age has changed young people, she said it has brought both good and bad changes. Good things about the digital age include easy access to data, knowledge, learning materials, and new learning methods.

Young people can now learn about different topics, cultures, and ideas, which helps them see things with a worldview. Through interactive apps, e-learning tools, and educational games, it has also made it easier to connect with others and communicate.

She talked about the problems and harmful effects of digital technology, including cyberbullying, online abuse, digital addiction and overuse, and the spread of fake news that can lead young people astray.

In response to these problems, she stressed the importance of teaching students how to think critically and use media properly to get around in the digital world.
