The awards offer many benefits to the finalists, including a travel allowance to attend the finals in Rome, global visibility, and opportunities to raise capital.

Finalists will also have the chance to network with influential entities such as governments, United Nations agencies, corporations, investors, and partners. Moreover, they will be invited to join WFF startup accelerator programs to scale their innovative solutions and technological breakthroughs. A total prize pool of USD 30,000 is set to be distributed among the winners.

The WFF Startup Innovation Awards was officially launched this May during the UN STI Forum, with announcements on the website and social media platforms.

The deadline for new applications is June 8 2024, marking the final day for startups to submit their entries.

The WFF-XTC selection team will review the June – October 2024 applications and shortlist an initial group of startups. These startups will be highlighted on the WFF website and participate in the September semi-finals.

The journey for the participating startups will culminate in Rome, where the finalists will present their innovations to a global audience. The event promises to be a melting pot of ideas, potentially driving significant advancements in the agri-food sector.

The WFF Startup Innovation Awards are more than just a competition; they catalyse change in the global food landscape. By fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, the WFF and XTC contribute to a future where good food is accessible to all, aligning with the broader vision of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The role of technology in transforming agrifood systems cannot be overstated. From precision agriculture to food waste reduction and supply chain optimisation, tech-driven solutions are crucial in addressing the myriad challenges faced by the food industry. The WFF Startup Innovation Awards aim to spotlight these solutions and support the visionaries behind them.
