Xiaomi boldly steps into the smart glasses arena with the launch of its AI-powered Xiaomi AI Glasses, unveiled on June 26, 2025, at the “Human x Car x Home” event in Beijing. Priced around $280, these glasses aim to challenge Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses by offering advanced features and longer battery life, marking a new chapter in wearable tech.

Advanced AI features and camera technology

Xiaomi AI Glasses come equipped with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera capable of recording 2K video at 30fps, allowing users to capture first-person videos and photos hands-free through voice commands. The glasses integrate Xiaomi’s XiaoAI assistant, enabling users to perform tasks such as object recognition, live translation in 10 languages, QR code scanning for payments, and real-time video calls or live streaming. A five-microphone array supports precise voice control and noise reduction, while stereo speakers provide audio playback, making the glasses a comprehensive smart device.

The glasses rely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 chip and a proprietary co-processor to handle AI tasks efficiently. Xiaomi also added electronic image stabilisation for smoother video capture. Users can trigger the camera either by voice or a physical button on the frame, which weighs only 40 grams. The frame is designed for comfort and style, with three frame colour options and electrochromic lenses that switch tint with a swipe.

Battery life and ecosystem integration

One standout feature of Xiaomi’s AI Glasses is their battery life. The device offers up to 8.6 hours of use on a single charge, doubling the runtime of Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, which last about four hours. The glasses can be fully recharged in just 45 minutes via a USB-C port, which also supports charging. Xiaomi claims the glasses can handle 45 minutes of continuous video recording, 7 hours of music playback, or 90 minutes of Bluetooth calls, making them practical for extended daily use.

Xiaomi positions the AI Glasses as part of its broader ecosystem, allowing seamless control of smart home devices and electric vehicles through voice commands. This integration enhances the glasses’ utility beyond media capture and communication, turning them into a hub for connected living. The glasses support 14 third-party apps to expand their functionality further, including live streaming and simultaneous translation.

Xiaomi’s entry into the smart glasses market is timely, as the global market surged by over 200% in 2024 and is expected to continue growing. By offering competitive pricing, superior battery life, and deep ecosystem integration, Xiaomi aims to capture a significant portion of this emerging segment, setting the stage for intense competition with established players like Meta and upcoming entrants like Apple.
