Yasser Shaker has been appointed the CEO of the Middle East and Africa (Orange MEA) division of the French telecom company Orange. This significant change in leadership was announced on Monday, May 5.
Promotion from Orange Egypt to Orange Middle East and Africa
The new CEO, Yasser Shaker, was previously Orange Egypt’s chairman and CEO.
He will resume office on July 1. He will replace Jérôme Hénique, who has been appointed Orange France’s Executive Director, Chairman, and CEO. Upon his official inauguration on June 1, he will also become a member of the Orange MEA Board of Directors.
After three years as the head of the Orange Group’s African branch, Jérôme Hénique, Alioune Ndiaye’s successor, is now stepping down. His successor, the former head of Orange Egypt, is praised as a dependable choice for the position.
Yasser Shaker will join the executive committee of the Orange Group. Christel Heydemann, the CEO of the company, is confident in his abilities for his new position. She said, “His extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the region will be essential to continue our growth momentum.”
Task before Yasser Shaker
The goal left by his predecessor, to transform Orange MEA into a premier multi-service operator, will be carried out by Yasser Shaker. OMEA is currently involved in a number of value-added sectors, such as energy, cybersecurity, mobile data, mobile finance, and support for technological innovation. In 2024, OMEA provided the largest contribution to the group’s economic growth. With 16 African subsidiaries and Jordan, OMEA reported €7,683 million in revenue, an 11.1% increase over 2023.
