Zoom introduces an AI Notetaker that transcribes and summarises meetings in real time, along with new avatar features and productivity tools designed to enhance meetings.

AI Notetaker reduces the necessity for manual note-taking by automatically recording conversations and organising notes on a single page.

This innovative technology has the potential to revolutionise the manner in which users acquire meeting insights, allowing them to concentrate more on discussions rather than composing.

AI Notetaker transforms meeting productivity

The AI Notetaker, part of Zoom’s AI Companion, captures live transcripts and generates detailed summaries immediately after meetings. It supports over 30 languages and offers features like speaker tracking, tone insights, and action item extraction.

Users can ask the AI questions during meetings, such as “Were action items assigned?” without interrupting speakers. This capability helps global teams stay aligned and saves time reviewing meetings.

Zoom’s AI tools also integrate with platforms such as Slack to prepare users for meetings by examining discussion topics in advance. The AI automatically composes chat messages and summarises phone call conversations by creating a seamless workflow that transcends video interactions.

Avatars and new collaborative features

Zoom has launched customizable avatars to represent users during meetings, adding a fresh dimension to interaction. These avatars can express emotions and reactions, making remote meetings more engaging.

This addition complements Zoom’s expanded AI capabilities, such as scheduling follow-up meetings and generating highlight videos from transcripts, all aimed at streamlining meeting management.

The company’s development roadmap encompasses “agenttic” AI capabilities that execute menial duties, such as document drafting and video clipping of significant video highlights. At no additional cost to Zoom Workplace subscribers, these enhancements are provided to improve productivity without incurring extra fees.

Zoom’s new AI Notetaker and avatar features promise to make virtual meetings more efficient and interactive by capturing essential information automatically and improving user engagement through avatars and AI-driven automation.
