The establishment of Paratus Kenya, a joint venture with Nairobi-based IT and ISP company MoveOn Telecoms Ltd., further solidifies the Pan-African telecommunications and network services provider Paratus Group’s planned sub-equatorial growth.

The new business was founded with the primary goal of supplying and setting up Starlink services. In Africa, Paratus was named an Authorised Reseller of Starlink’s global LEO (low earth orbit) satellite services last year.

The launching of Paratus Eswatini last month was followed shortly by the introduction of Paratus Kenya, confirming the group’s continuing rapid expansion intentions.

Since 2015, the Communication Authority of Kenya and the Registrar of Companies have granted Moveon Telecoms Limited (MTL) a licence to provide ICT services in Kenya.

With a highly skilled staff offering customer and technical support, MTL provides experience and expertise in the full range of telecom solutions.

Paratus Kenya’s MD remarks

According to Joseph Kibwott, MD of Paratus Kenya, the joint venture is extremely exciting for Kenya.

“Paratus Kenya is dedicated to promoting economic growth and GDP expansion through the direct and indirect creation of jobs. A disruptive digital platform that enables access to e-government services, remote employment opportunities, real-time security solutions, and telemedicine is made possible by stable and dependable internet connectivity, which is essential to our objective.”

“Enhanced connectivity in the most remote areas empowers Kenyans and fosters growth in our local economies. Together, we can build a brighter, more connected future for everyone in Kenya.”

Advantages of using Starlink

Starlink uses a straightforward, scalable hardware platform that is universally deployable to provide high-speed, broadband internet.

Businesses can always continue to operate thanks to Starlink’s dependable service, which is unrestricted by local infrastructure and built to accommodate various paths back to the internet.

For all customers, Starlink maintains an uptime of above 99.5% throughout its network; for unobstructed installations, this number is higher. Weather and disruptions caused by wire cuts are not taken into account while measuring uptime.

In addition to serving thousands of business sites, Starlink offers a wide range of services to its clients, such as emergency services, backup, temporary setup, enterprise connection, and replacement of 4G and VSAT.

Paratus Group COO’s comment

Paratus Group Chief Commercial Officer, Martin Cox adds: “By expanding into a key East African territory, we are further strengthening our total network service offering. We can tailor network services packages for any enterprise requiring a fast, robust and reliable connection in Africa and to the rest of the world.”

“Opening in East Africa has been one of our primary objectives and this is a significant milestone for us as it spearheads our strategy in the region. It’s also a giant step forward in our mission to provide access to connectivity to un-served and under-served African countries south of the equator. We are delighted to be partnering with MoveOn and to install Starlink services in Kenya.”
