Global pioneers in technology and digital inclusion, Ericsson and AXIAN Telecom, have teamed up to use the Ericsson Educate platform to digitally upskill African youths in areas like 5G, AI, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

According to a statement released on Wednesday, the partnership demonstrates both Groups’ longstanding dedication to digital inclusion with Ericsson’s vast experience in educational programs and AXIAN Telecom’s understanding of local community needs.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both AXIAN Telecom and Ericsson seeks innovative ways to help young people in the African nations where both businesses operate obtain digital skills.

As a component of Ericsson’s Connect To Learn strategy, this partnership makes use of the Ericsson Educate program.

AXIAN, Ericsson to make high-quality educational materials accessible for learners.

The partnership aims to make high-quality educational tools and resources accessible and develop the digital skills that the workforce of the future will need.

Ericsson’s Connect to Learn program has so far touched more than 485,000 students in 43 countries. This partnership seeks to increase digital inclusion in education even more.

Students have access to a variety of learning options through the Ericsson Educate platform in fields like 5G, automation, cloud computing, telecommunications, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Students who complete these courses will gain skills that are in demand in the modern digital economy and receive badges that demonstrate their accomplishments.

Partnership to focus on university students across Africa

In this collaboration, AXIAN Telecom’s dedication to digital youth empowerment—which focuses on giving young adults the necessary skills—will be crucial.

This will involve AXIAN Telecom focussing on training university students throughout Africa, matching the goals of Ericsson Educate’s programs, and bolstering its current programs at African universities.

With its reputation for technological know-how, Ericsson guarantees that this collaboration will offer the most recent training materials, ensuring that the young people in these markets receive top-notch education.

Together, Ericsson and AXIAN Telecom hope to provide students with the greatest resources and instruction possible to help them thrive in the quickly changing digital economy.

AXIAN Telecom and Ericsson to collaborate with local partners to address local needs

To address the requirements of young people in each market, AXIAN Telecom and Ericsson will work with local partners in each of the countries where this cooperation is implemented to create customised plans. By ensuring the project’s durability and local relevance, this strategy contributes to the long-term success of digital education.

AXIAN Telecom laid the foundation for this strategic partnership earlier this year when its senior teams visited the Ericsson Imagine Studio in Kista, Sweden, and reiterated their shared objective of promoting digital inclusion via education. This relationship comes after Ericsson’s expanding engagement to promote social impact with AXIAN Telecom.

Earlier this year, the Senegal Ministry of National Education started a successful Connect to Learn relationship with AXIAN Telecom’s subsidiary Yas Sénégal. This partnership expands on that success.

Five public elementary schools now have a digital instructional ecosystem thanks to this program, which opened the door for other projects like this Memorandum of Understanding.

AXIAN Telecom and Ericsson are optimistic about the partnership

The leaders of the two companies are excited about the partnership which identifies education as the cornerstone to a nation’s progress.

Hassan Jaber, CEO of AXIAN Telecom, said the partnership “marks a transformative step in fostering digital education across Africa. By combining AXIAN Telecom’s deep understanding of the needs and dynamics of local communities with Ericsson’s educational platforms.”

Similarly, Majda Lahlou Kassi, Vice President and Head of Ericsson West Africa & Morocco, echoed the same sentiments.

“We are proud to partner with AXIAN Telecom on this significant initiative. Education is the cornerstone of progress, and by empowering students with essential digital skills, we are not only unlocking their individual potential but also contributing to Africa’s long-term socioeconomic development,” the Telecom leader bragged.
