WIOCC Group partners with Nigeria to enhance digital connectivity

WIOCC Group, a prominent supplier of connectivity and digital infrastructure, announced a strategic alliance with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Communications Innovation & Digital Economy (FMCIDE) on Thursday.

This partnership seeks to accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy through significant investments in vital digital infrastructure and thorough stakeholder engagement.

The collaboration, which was formally established by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is a critical turning point in the initiatives to improve digital inclusiveness and connection throughout Nigeria.

The agreement, which was signed by WIOCC Group’s Chief Development Officer, Darren Bedford, and Minister Dr Bosun Tijani, lays out a common goal for promoting technological efficiency and group profitability.

What the partnership aims to achieve 

In order to address the demands of the digital economy, the partnership aims to improve stakeholder participation through a collaborative evaluation and improvement of the National Policy on Telecommunications.

The WIOCC Group is dedicated to making investments in Nigeria’s digital infrastructure by establishing a hyperscale open-access digital platform that offers colocation and cutting-edge fibre to internet service providers (ISPs).

Aiming to enhance internet quality and accessibility, WIOCC is working with the Nigerian internet Alliance for Nigeria to build fibre infrastructure and collaborate with ISPs to connect more homes and businesses.

WIOCC also supports employment creation for young Nigerians and offers training in digital infrastructure as part of the cooperation.

Commitment to support Nigeria’s digital transformation 

Commenting on the partnership, WIOCC Group’s Chief Business Development Officer, Mr Darren Bedford said, “The MoU with the Ministry of Communications underscores our commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation, by working together, we aim to create a robust digital ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders and drives sustainable economic growth”.

”This collaboration with WIOCC Group represents a significant step forward in our commitment to ensuring that Nigerians have access to reliable and high-quality telecommunications services,” said Dr Tijani.

“Working with the private sector to deliver last-mile connectivity to homes and businesses, amongst other key benefits, is essential to achieving this vision and we are excited about the opportunities this collaboration creates for empowering communities across Nigeria,” he added.
